SuperCharger dowel pins

Hi,
I brought car to the shop for a supercharger pulley upgrade and noticed that both of the supercharger dowel pins are bent (where the washer lines up). Is this a common issue? Any of you experience the same issue? I am worried because it seems that 4 of my local MB dealers do not sell these separately, they only come with supercharger...anyone know where I can find any?

thanks.

Thats strange. But not an issue. Mostly an eye sore to look at if anything. Know of any machinist to make a couple...?

Good point, Thumper. I will look around. Do you think I will encounter any issues pulling them out?
-Forrest, I was under the impression that pulley would be off center?

Sounds like a pain to pull them out. A nice pair of vice grips and heat.

Good luck!

You put brand new pins every time you saw sheared ones?

No, I believe they are only there for alignment, certainly not to hold the pulley. Thinking most people do not even know they are on there since they are so small so they just crank down the pulley over them during install.

Kinda weird design. Meant to center washer for supercharger pulley bolt, I assume. Mine sheared too. I am going to pull mine the rest of the way out and buy a roll pin. Trim to fit and problem solved.

Thanks for reassuring me. Now, shims are out and I must send specs to machinist to have a couple made.
I hate the fact that MB does not sell these pins separately....

I bought them from MSC. I think they only come in 100 pieces, roughly $40.

I don't remember off hand what the specs are, but just measure and check out the site.

The factory dowels (at least mine) micd 2.8 mm. Ace hardware sells an 1/8 in dowel that mics 2.9mm. Stand by as I attempt to install an verify fitment. 23¢ each.

They fit. Stick em in the freezer or rub em with Emery cloth if they are a bit too tight.

How did you take off the old pins out? Any trick to it? And I think people are mistaken for thinking that the pins are there for alignment and that not having them doesn't cause an issue. I believe they stop the washer/bolt from overtightening or loosening up overtime. AMG wouldn't have them if they don't serve a necesaary purpose. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's what i presumed

On the C32 forum a lot of people have run pulleys without them without issues. Mine were bent most of the life of my car. It made the washer installation a little rougher, but I didn't experience any issues (the car had 190k when I sold it). You really need to use vice grips to get them out. It may deform the pin a little, but I never had an issue.

The pins on mine are completely broken so I cant really get a grip on the pins with the vise grip. Did you have to pull it out with force? Or can you wiggle it out?

Wiggle AND force. They're usually pretty tight. Though I have had them come out with the washer before, but that's probably because they get deformed over time. I had to change that bearing A LOT.

I would weld a rod to the end of it and try to pull it out that way. Otherwise, you're stuck trying to drill and tap.
