E55 AMG, CLS55 AMG...Which is better/faster
Two of my friends have fast cars. I have a 05' E55 AMG, my friend has a 06' CLS55 AMG, and my other friend has a 13' Charger SRT8. We all plan to race sometime at the end of the year. I think we can take the Charger, but which car is faster (although they both have the same motor) between the CLS and the E class in your opinion?

The CLS & E should be about even. The E has a curb weight that is ~37lbs more than the CLS, but that's nothing. As long as you both get the same drop, no one will edge.
The Charger will be left in the dust, 'nuf said. It has ~40 less tq and 300+ lbs.

Is our cars faster in the manual mode or sport mode transmission? I also noticed that tune raises the rev limiter to 6700rpm.

W219, agreed. I'd have one if I didn't have 3 kids. Not so much a fan of the W218.

Not sure if this is true, but thought that i read the CLS has a different steering rack that makes it a little tighter and more responsive and that the CLS had updated (better)bushings on some front end components. Hopefully others will chime in to correct me. This might be the link https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...rts.html?pp=10 on another note I would have bought the CLS if I liked it more than the E

I also read on Edmunds that the E55 has a lower drag coefficient than the CLS55 (.27 to .31). Does this make any difference?

I have never liked the look of them, old ones or new ones and don't think I ever will.
As for weight, I went to a garbage place and drove my car on the scale with 1/4 tank of gas while I had 19" sl63 wheels which the rears weighted around 55lbs each (with tires) not sure of fronts but figure around 2lbs less since they are narrower, but they are close to the same weight as stock 18s. My car has electronic trunk closer, rear sunshade, pano roof, navigation, 6 disk cd changer, active headlights, the active seats (not dynamic with massage) and it weighed 4150lbs with the stock spare tire and compressor/tools in the trunk.
And a cls vs E race

On the looks comments: I have owned both and have mixed feelings. I think the E generally looks more aggressive, while the CLS more refined/classy. I can tell you that I get a LOT more comments and kudos in my CLS than I did with me E. (not that I really care too much...unless it's a hot chick--even then, don't need the trouble!)

I honestly feel the same way. I thought I was going to be "that guy" who said the cls is not good looking after a few were sayin it was sexy above I don't like them in the slightest bit and definitely think they are ugly too.

CLS should be a tiny bit faster.
Usually the CLS has wider tires than the E; the wider tires on the CLS makes a significant difference in putting the power down.
