headrests deployed but no collision?
Last week, my driver's side headrest deployed when I sat down in the seat. I reset it today and drove the car a few times without incident. Late in the day, it deployed when I sat in the seat. After driving a few hundred feet, the passenger side headrest deployed. There was a very light item on the passenger seat at the time (my tablet). Any ideas why this is happening? The car hasn't been hit, AFAIK.

It appears the mechanism thinks you were in an accident...not sure what triggers the mechanism, but that is likely your problem as you have already reset it several times. Good luck

I tried to reset both today, and on both I can feel that I'm depressing the button/switch/whetever, but it isn't staying down...it's rebounding as soon as I let go of it. It's like the car thinks I'm in a perpetual collision. I will call my SA tomorrow and see what he says.

I fiddled with resetting them more today, without luck, so I made an appt at the dealer for Monday. Hopefully I'll know more soon.

Dealer just advised they want to "REPLACE NECKPRO TRIGERING DEVICE (FAULTY TRIGERING DEVICE)" and also replace both neck restraints! The former makes sense...it does seem there is a faulty sensor, hence the random deployments. But it seems unlikely that the headrests both broke at the same time and need to be replaced. I would guess that the sensor is constantly sending a "you're in a collision" message, and once it is fixed the headrests will stay down. Or am I missing something? Does anyone have experience replacing the headrests on a 2006 CLS55 or E55 (or equivalent)? Dealer wants nearly $1200 to do that. Ouch! If headrests do need to be replaced, I'd rather try to do it myself if practical.

Is the "triggering device" built into the headrests themselves?
I'd be looking at someone stripping a car or a junkyard before spending $1200 on a new set of head rests.

Re: 2010 GLK350 Neck Pro Reset Issue
2010 GLK350 driver's side neck-pro triggered with out any rear collision. This version does not require tool - just to push it back in as per manula. Have tried several times: the steel link engages with the twin nylon hooks on the solenoid but give way again as they do not lock. It appears the solenoid may be shorted/fried. We have tried to energize solenoid using 12V but no response. and resistance came pretty close to zero ohm.
Can anybody help with a part# for the solenoid (or a resistance reading for a good working solenoid). I saw no easy way to extract the solenoid but there must be a way! sure. Any help appreciated. Thanks

My headrest has popped out twice that I reset myself, then it popped a third time. I brought it to the dealer they rest it and said all parts to it tested good and when they drove it it did not pop. Less then 1 hour of picking up the car it popped, this time it serious hurt me and chipped two teeth from the impact to the back of my head. Anyone know of any lawsuits or serious injuries from this?

It happens to me.
It happens to me. I have a bulging disk in my neck from it. I’m seeking legal counsel. They told me there’s 2 types of suits “duty of care” and product safety recall. It happened on my 09 c300 5 times before geico totaled it out after Mercedes couldn’t fix it. The attorney said they haven’t seen any type of product recall for this type of incident. The attorneys are looking into “duty of care” issue. What kind of Mercedes do you have? I’m in the tristate area.
