Just from today. Why are the other manufacterers so much quicker to do recalls than Mercedes???
NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Ford Motor is recalling 465,000 of its current model year cars due to a fuel leak that poses a fire risk.
The company said the models include 2013 Ford Explorer, Taurus, Flex, Fusion, Interceptor Utility and Interceptor Sedan, as well as the Lincoln MKS, MKT and MKZ.
Ford (F, Fortune 500) said it is not aware of any incidents of fire due to the fuel leak, or of any injuries caused by the defect. Ford said it had received 600 complaints about the fuel leak from customers as of March 31.
Last July, Ford recalled 11,500 of its 2013 Escape SUVs because a defect in the fuel line that could cause a fire. At the time Ford took the unusual step of advising drivers not to even drive the vehicles until they were repaired. There was no such warning with the most recent recall.

The O-ring replacement is very very easy to do so don't be afraid to tackle a fuel leak on the top driver side part of the tank. Replaced mine 6 months ago for $20.00 and now it needs a seal again. Dont know why but $20.00 and 20 minutes no problem!

The fuel pooling up on the outside is what causes the tank openings to warp. Then the tank needs replaced.
Mine is like this but i just packed it up with rubber and dont brim the tank unless im going on a trip somewhere.
I want to try to make a fixture so I can push these warped holes out and back into shape.
So yeah the original cause of the leak is usually from the defective white housings (cracks) for the fuel sender or fuel pumps the fuel leaks down ontop of the outside of the tank and thats what causes the large threaded opening in the tank to deform so thats where the real issue lies. You need to either catch it before it warps and jbweld the white housings or try to make something to push the tank back into shape....
