I've noticed lately that the car makes a very slight humming/soft squeak sound on certain turns. If it's a harder turn, there is no noise.

But if I'm doing a turn 90' or so from a light or full turnaround, I notice this noise.

It is more pinpointed, I believe, to the rear of the vehicle. Otherwise feels fine around turns etc. just on slight turns not under full load etc.

Car is an 06 with 42K miles. Stock suspension.



Any ideas?

Did the car sit for a while? Sometimes you just need to drive it more often so gremlins don't start popping out.

You sure its not the p/s pump? I would start there ... the only thing humming is the sbc or the airmatic compressor and none of those would sound any different if you are turning. The power steering pump could be the culprit. Can you replicate the noise when the car isnt moving?

I only noticed it while driving. I will try it while the car is stopped this evening (drove the beater to work today).

I had a guess it was the P/S pump as well, but turning seems fine. I'll report back this evening ...
