FASN8N: Speedway white is the rarest of all colors...very cool! I had one 6 years ago or so and when I wanted to sell it...they were banging my door down!

Finally got the car together and on the road. Haven't been able to really enjoy it thanks to GM Parts Direct slacking on my Z51 sway bar order. So right now it has no sway bars at all. Otherwise the car is incredible. Pretty big attention getter with the large cam and visible roll bar. Thing moves out and anybody has refused to line up with me yet on the street. I can't wait to get the sway bars and really feel the handling.
So I finally found an E55 at a dealer and I am trying to go there tonight for a test drive. Im excited to see how it feels compared against the Z06. There is certainly going to be a huge give and take between the 2 as they are different animals all together. I've been dying to find out which car is really right for me and this will hopefully be my chance!

Well just bringing some closure to this one. I did manage to get the chance to take one for a test drive that I am very interested in. To sum up the car in a word : INCREDIBLE. Honestly every car i'll drive from here on will be junk by comparison. So needless to say i'm officially on the hunt for one of these. Unfortunately the brakes were shot since it seems the car has been sitting for certainly over a month. They want 24250 and it has just about 56k miles. It was like brand new otherwise.
Thanks again for everyones advice here!

It was shaking ALOT on stopping. Before we left I noticed the rotors were fully rusted over. We were out for a while and they never got better at all. I brought it up and they seemed to know about it already.

Rusty rotors are normal, you will find that most rotors will rust on about any car within a few hours of washing....
Fortunately rotors for the E55s are fairly cheap (@$100ea on parts.com). Sounds like the rotors on your test car were warped. You might be able to have the rotors turned if they are still within spec.

Oh yeah a little surface rust is no problem. But these things were about rotted. They are warped for sure so I would replace with new ones. I did a quick search on rock auto to see if prices were crazy but they weren't bad at all. The only part that bothered me was they ruined the nice ride I was having!

Am I dreaming this! Someone help me out here! I priced them and they were like $1800 for 4!
Update: I just looked it up and it does appear to be $75 for fronts and $50 for rears. I don't know how and where I saw these retarded priced rotors!? I guess I am losing my mind!

You must have either priced out E63 rotors which are 2pc from the factory (different than the factory 1pc E55 rotors) or some aftermarket Evosport or other high end replacement rotors.

if thats the only thing wrong with the car, then make an offer less the costs of rotors/labor. Shouldn't prevent you from buying it. There are more bigger problems that could be wrong w/the car. ie. fuel sending unit, rear main seal, airmatic shocks

I've got an idea for a cash offer on the car. It's just not exactly what I was looking for (Color, options). But it is first on the list so far. Quickly realizing how rare these are, so might have to compromise a few things to get one if it's just right otherwise. This one basically fits that scenario.

So................just got back from the dealer. I gambled and let them hang onto it to see if I could get a better deal and it worked. The car wasn't even moved from where I parked it on my test drive. It's a late 2005 with 55k miles and its beautiful. I could not be happier. Will be picking it up Tuesday!

Yes I am beyond excited. The wife was skeptical on the whole car for a while so I made her go on a test drive yesterday. She hit it at quarter throttle and had a little grin going. Then we got to a nice straight and I told her to give it some more, she went half throttle and was all smiles. She absolutely loves the car. She didn't care much for the looks at first but it quickly grew on her yesterday! It also helped that the manager thought there was still something wrong with the brakes, but someone had used the car for a long drive at the dealer recently and it pretty much is all cleared up so I won't even have to do that.

The torque is intoxicating on these cars, that's for sure!
My wife kept bugging me to drive the car and I insisted it's too much car for her - and to be honest, it really is to the inexperienced drivers out there. So, finally, I gave in ...I let my wife drive mine about a year ago and told her she doesn't need to give it much gas to get it going (she drives a Sonata 2.0T, which is quick for what it is, but no blown V8), she said she'd be fine.
We got out of our community and she gave it enough throttle to where the blower engages and disengages sort of abruptly...she asked, 'what was that'? And I told her to give it more gas. She basically nailed it for two seconds and let off.

I almost died laughing.

This is how I felt after driving a Gen 1 CTS-V then driving an E55 a couple hours later. Glad I didn't pull the trigger on the CTS-V.

I always wanted a Gen 1 CTS-V too but I passed on it too. Really fun car itself but nowhere near this E55. I can't wait for tomorrow, but i've got to wait to pick it up after work. Killing me over here.
