Thinking of moving to c63 - thoughts?

Had the e55 for a little over a year now... great car... but getting a little bored probably due to the size of the car (lack of agility) and age. Thinking of moving to a c63 sedan to still have 4 doors but be closer to be more nible.

Any thoughts on the move? Specifically how is the transmission in the c63 in comparison? Still a auto w torque converter? Any sharper shifting?

They're fun cars.

I just drove a black series about two weekends ago, holy hell that was awesome. Definitely the next car I'm buying; I just don't think I can ever get rid of the E55.

Aren't the C63s just as far as the E55s? stock for stock? It definitely felt like it.

C63 should be a fun car but you need to put $15K to $20K on top of E55....

Your looking for nimble, so how about the new CLA45 AMG? I believe they are around 3400 lbs or so and shouldnt be too much slower than a stock 55.

They're 3500lbs and have 350HP/330TQ.
They're MAYBE about as fast an E39 M5, stock for stock. I might still give the E39 the edge.

They won't hold a candle to a stock W211 E55.

I came from a 05 E55 with a tad over 500WHP and bought a C63 in August of 2012. I love it. It is definitely more sporty (especially with coilovers). I feel more comfortable taking turns and the power bone stock is real comparable if not faster than a stock E55.

Its geared more aggressive and the transmission is tremendously faster and crisper. If you can get into a 2012+ the shifts are a tad bit faster because of the change from the 7G to the MCT. One thing I fell in love with immediately was the Sport mode rev-matching downshifts. Just the bark alone sold me.

Also if you are into engine mods its easy to get 500WHP from this car safely.

How much different is the C63 interior compared to the C300/C250? The dealer loaner interiors are so base looking and the entertainment screen is horrid.

Personally, even with an AMG upscale, the E55 interior would be tons better than the C63.

c63 SEDAN in black series??? Didn't know they had it other than the coupe. Do they take out the back seats too?
I've seen a couple decent mileage c63's around me for sale but none are less than $40k for what I thought was a much smaller car. Personally I don't think you could go wrong with either...but I get the handling issue. I jump in my Mustang and it takes corners like it's on rails (of course it kills your kidneys on the bumps though!).

c63 interior/build/roominess/comfort <<<< E55 (if that matters to you).

I loved our 09 PP, but the interior is just not on the same level as even an old e55 all IMHO.

this could matter to some of the older folks.

if you're into road racing.... no contest.... get the c.

C63 definitely more of a throw around / fun handling vehicle.
E55 interior is far superior wrt to quality of materials used. Also I found the C63 seats to be a bit tight esp. for those with a wider girth

Ha right. The cla45 is a 12 second car in stock form. Can you say that about the E39 M5?

Yea.. I ran a 12.8 at 110 with my 2003 M5 with just mufflers and lowered street tires.. so yes, I can say that. There are a handful of guys on M5board that ran quicker with nothing but DRs.

Lol nothing but DRs lol

The cla45 runs a 12.1 1/4mile... Consistently bone stock, on a good day the e39 runs low 13's. I've been around BMW for years.. I've never seen a stock E39 run a 12 anything. slap DRs on any car and you'll almost certainly see a substantial change in their track times. Stock for stock very few BMWs can compete with AMG.

Your comparing the fastest that an E39 ran, to what a consistent cla45 will run. I don't even know why your brought up an M5 from the early 2000s. The op was looking for something more nimble and updated. Sorry, but the M5 is neither of those. I was just throwing the idea out there about the Cla. Im sure the car is not the fastest car out there, but speed isn't everything.

Not sure about the 12.1, but the a45 (same engine as cla45) did a 12.6 @112 according to some video. You can find it in the Cla forum.
