I used a friends older version star developer and it showed the development data menu, I will post pictures later, anyway I was able to set rear view camera to "installed" and comfort telephony to "activated".

So I now have a working rear back up camera. Thanks Jonkean!!

Sweet! Which backup camera did you install? I looked into adding one, but couldn't find any that install without drilling holes. Since I already have Parktronic I abandoned pursuing it further.

Very interested as to how this will work! Can any COMAND be retrofitted with this option?

Thumbs up Update!

I got fed up with the ******* people. Im not even sure if they are even interested in your business or not. anyway, here is the update with my back up camera!

I installed a BoYO VTL375HD and a Wifi camera transmitter. (http://www.4ucam.com/iphone-android-...up-Camera.html)

You can basically use your iPhone or android phone as backup camera screen.

I have to say this works perfectly! I just place my phone on my ash tray when I reverse. It fits perfectly and I get constant video feed.

You can actually purchase the 12V adapter for the back instead of tapping into any wires.

Hi

Where in the trunk was the 12 volt plug? Is the 12volt at the plug switched with the car accessories or does it go on only when the car is in reverse?

I wonder where I can buy the 12volt plug so I can utilise this power outlet for a reversing camera.

Regards,

OZZYAMG

I have a 12V plug in my trunk. Maybe it's for the E63 only. If you don't have the 12V plug. Just buy the unit and have someone hot wire for constant power. You do not want to connect the transmitter for reverse power only. As the WIFI start up take 3 seconds. I just have the transmitter with constant power so that I can get instant video feed.

You can tap into the reversing lights if needed so it powers only when you reverse. Unless you want to watch the looks on peoples faces as you blow past them

You can do that to the camera but connect the transmitter to a constant power line. The transmitter takes 3 sec to establish the wifi signal.

Hi

I am about to purchase one of these:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Veyron-VC-...-/280920841044

I will install it into the existing space where one of my number plate lights are and run the power so it switched on with the reverse lights so it will only power up when my car is in reverse. I will then add the video input to the spare rca yellow input I already have in my trunk. My car is an Australian model and has 2 spare a/v inputs on the trunk mounted tv tuner (yellow/red/white) to allow for Aux 1 and Aux 2 to the front Command video screen. All I will need to do when reversing is select "VIDEO" and "AUX 1" from my head unit and the reverse camera should display on my factory screen.

Wish me luck!

Regards,

OZZYAMG

Hey mert, I set the rear view camera to installed, should I get a blank screen if no camera is installed?

Yes it should be a blank/dark screen until you connect a camera and at the top of the screen it should say check surroundings when you put the car in reverse.

Well I guess this guy didn't set it correct because I don't have a blank screen. I seen him set it that's the weird thing. Is there a certain way to enable it?

I bought one of these:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Black-Waterproof-Car-Rear-View-Reverse-Backup-CMOS-Camera-170-Wide-Angle-SH-/380887532578?pt=US_Rear_View_Monitors_Cams_Kits&hash=item58aeaa8422

Cheap and worked really well. It means drilling a hole in the trunk iid unfortunately but looks pretty good when installed and quality is decent. Just need to make sure that you drill in the right place ... not too close to the rear handle mounting bolts. I drilled mine too close at first but managed to fix it.

Hi

I just went out and checked on the actual direction of my reverse camera.

I can see the house across the street from me, so I believe that my camera is most certainly positioned correctly.

Maybe the manufacturer had revised some changes and I have a newer model?

Anyone can tell me the steps to enabling my reverse camera, does it need to be in reverse or any steps to take when enabling in developer menu?
Thanks in advance

You have ntg1?
I have the ntg2.5 that should automatically come on when put in reverse.

Hi

Whilst not 100% certain I think I have the NTG1.

I am under the impression that NTG2.5 has an SD card slot on the front of the head unit and I do not have an SD card slot.

w211 350 wagon where are you in VA? I'm in northern VA.

I purchased a coding box to unlock the feature of the NTG2.5 along with VIM. If you are close we can use it on your car to unlock your camera feature. Note that it will unlock but not give you the VIM since that has to be constantly connected to the headunit. But if you are looking for the back up camera feature this would do it for ya.

Excellent! No problem. It just feels wasteful to have this and have only done my car...lol Anyone that is close that wants to have the camera option opened up I'd definitely help. I also picked up a DAS/Xentry system so that makes it even better to unlock stuff. I've done the rear flashing brakes, fuel remaining..etc.

I should have my camera installed by this weekend.

One question for you, where did you mount the camera? I as going to mount it to the right of the right license plate light since on the left is the trunk lock, but now I am thinking I might want the camera more towards the driver side. I can't get it dead center unfortunately because of the trunk release handle dead smack in the middle but I'm not really sure if 8" either way is going to make or break the view of a 150' degree viewing angle..lol

Hey sorry took so long to respond Nigel, but I used one of those that replace the license plate light. I'm sure you installed it by now and don't think getting it centered matters.i tried the rear flashing lights and could never get them to work ...
