Which One Would You Buy? Used C55, C63, E55, or E63?
I am looking to buy a 3rd car just to drive for fun about 4-5 times a month around town. I probably will only put about 2-5k miles a year on it at the most.
I will probably keep it for 3-5 years or possibly longer if it lasts me and proves to not be in the shop more than I drive it.
I dont plan on doing any major mods, but possibly tune it for more HP etc.
I wont do my own repairs, but I will take it to our local mechanic that works on MB.
Originally I wanted the CL55 or CL600 but it just seemed like they would be a money pit and in the shop more than I would get to drive it![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I am looking at the C and E class AMG's right now and trying to find out which ones to avoid and which ones are the best on reliability etc.
Looking for a used 30-70k miles
Year 05-08
Either a C55, C63, E55, E63
Budget: Between 15k-30k
Any suggestions on which years and models to avoid and which ones to look for?
Thanks

For a fun toy: C63 or E55. C63 gets you the newer tech smaller car, more nimble, great great sound. E55=torque which is a lot of fun. E63 if you want a bigger car, newer tech and better stock sound than E55. I wouldn't consider the C55 if you can afford the other three. Nothing against it just dated and no supercharger.

There's plenty of opinions on that. I prefer the 2006 bc I prefer the sliding center console and all the updated parts but there's nothing wrong with a late 2003 and up.
Go drive the E55 and C63 on the same day and get a feel for them. The C63 with a tune is a blast. The E55 with a tune is a blast too and with save you $10k+... But if you keep it for 5 years it will feel very dated wear the C63 is still on the current platform so it will age much better over the next few years.

I'm currently in the market for either a c63, e92 m3, or 996 turbo. I would say c63 but it will be tough to find one for $30k or less unless it's beat up or been in an accident.

C63 Black Series, hands down, if you had the $$ for it.
I love the E55, if not, I'd have that car right now.
For your budget, find a clean, decent mileage, well maintained late 05/06 E55 for high 20's.

I've had both the E55 and C63. If you want to enjoy something day to day with little or no hiccups I would go C63. If you can get a 2010+ I would definitely get a C63. I wouldnt recommend 08-09 C63 as much unless you can get an extended warranty on it.

Current: Cadillac CTS-V (V2), Chevy Cruze Past: E55k
All very good points from everyone so far. I would opt for the C63 as it is still fresh and will not look to dated in 5-6 years, but as try_M3 mentioned it will be very difficult to find one for 30K or less. The E55 is a great bang for your buck vehicle, but maintenance alone can be tough. If you were to go the E55 route I would check the vehicle maintenance report very closely and have the airmatic system checked out by a MB Indy. You will also need to upgrade the Supercharger pump is it has not already been replaced as everyone on here know that is the first thing that will fail, but that is a cheap fix. So no biggie there. Also, the motor mounts tend to wear out pretty quickly as well due to the twisting of the engine due to the torque. The E55 engine should be rock solid and non-problematic especially if you keep it stock sans the tune.
