Unhappy The infamous cup holder debacle

Ok just like most people my cup holder stopped popping out automatically, so when I pulled it out to see ifnitnwas something I could clean this copper color coil fell out, which I assumed is why it won't pop out automatically. The cup holder goes up and down manual just fine.

So my question is does anyone know if I can just put the coil back in so far cuz I haven't figured it out yet.

You can put it back if the plastic notch that the end grabs onto isn't broken. I think most springs come out because it is broken though.

I'm just going to grab one off ebay for 75 bux and replace it. Mine has just started the "pops up but doesn't deploy fully" symptoms, so I have to manually flip it out. I suppose the bright side is that I'm talking about the cupholder, and not me

Mine has been jammed down inside of the console (in the closed position) for 2+ years now. I haven't figured out how to pull it all apart. Maybe that'll be my next project.

Any hints on how to remove the assembly?

2 small tabs hold it in on the bottom, just grab it and pull straight up. Mine popped right out without braking the tabs.
