Tire of choice?

Heya guys I just wanted to gather some opinions on what's your tire of choice?

I'm going to buy some rubbers for the rear on my E-55 think the specs are 275/35ZR

I'm looking for more grip than anything else

I've been running those tires for a few years. I love them and they wear great. Benzodoc just put a set on his a few months back and he is a fan of them as well. Sure as hell beat the V12s I'm currently running on.

Oh but my tire of choice is Michelin Pilot Super Sports. I run them on my wife's G37s. I'll be going to them as soon as I burn off the V12s my wheels came with.

I'm also a fan of the Michelin PSS, but not because of the traction. I've found they are great to hold up against sidewall bruising when used with low-profile 20s....of which you won't have a problem with.

THIS^ One of the biggest reasons I'm changing. Also impressed with the traction though.

the tire has a 30,000 mile thread warranty. since we are staggered its cut in half to 15,000. I got 10,000 miles out of mine and they wore evenly so I got pro-rated for my new set i just put on last week instead of paying 265.00 a tire last time for 275/35/18's I only paid 160.00 for both !!!! unreal i know. u buy the best and u get perks with it.

love these
for the op

Been rolling on Hankook ventus v12s because they're a nice bang for the buck. I do tend to roast through them very quickly, though.

I"ve historically loved BFG KDW2's.

Perhaps I'll consider ballin' out with some Pilot Sports in the future.

Did that in my Z for a while. They're pretty worthless unless you regularly enjoy doing burnouts at stoplights.

Ha!

I daileyed my E55 on R-comps for a good bit. Made the car fun as hell in the corners, but scketchy as he!! in the cold/wet. On my favorite on-ramp I was able to pick up ~6mph midpoint in the turn over my Michelin PS2s before she would start to push!

On a side note - Discount Tire just down the street from me here recently started refusing to mount tired that weren't rated for a specific car, meaning they won't mount 20" 30 series sidewalls for an E55. They also won't mount tires that are stretched.

*******s. I'm going in Thursday with wheels/tires and telling them I have an S2000. Let's see what they say.

The Nittos that came with my wheels, and which I replaced once, would bruise if you drove over a dime. They were horrible.

I really need to read up on this. However, with my lowered uneven treadwear, it would most likely be useless anyways....

Have you considered "rotating" them by having the tires remounted and balanced to the opposite side after a certain number of miles? I'm planning to do that with at least my fronts pretty soon.

Michelin PSSs have an inner and outer side, so rotating to the other side of the car would be useless as the "inner" would still be on the inside.

Seeing as how a 30 series sidewall on a 20" wheel is the wrong diameter for an E55, they are most likely protecting themselves from lawsuits of prematurely worn drivelines. This rule was most likely cause by the morons running 30" wheels on a Civic.

Doh on the first. I forgot about that.

Seems to work fine for me on the second, and is better than bent fenders. I think its more related to the "hella flush" style I see people riding around with the rims basically protruding from the tire sidewall.
