I just might be jumping ship!
Really considering getting a CTS-V for now. I sat in a non recaro seat car and it was comfortable enough to deal with until the 2012 e63 comes down in price and for the time being I can go a lot faster for little money! I figured $36k-$40k and for $4k in mods I will get approx. 600whp. I used to love the caddies but they are not as comfortable and I actually think that the e55 is just a better car in every way except handling and the caddy is a little faster stock...now because of technology! Anyway, I do not want to dump a ton of money into the e55 along with deal with whoever will do the mods and get tortured doing that as I can see happens all over the board here. The V can be modded in my living room! LOL
Well..any one who wants to talk me out of it, or convince me...I am all ears!
P.S. I wrote this pretty fast and hope it makes sense...I am very tired...been a long day.

You are talking About a 2012 what? E55 stopped in 06'... The caddies are quite boring looking and interior is still basic looking from what I last saw..

I did about 10 months ago but it had bald tires so it wouldn't really go in 1st and 2nd it just spun the tires. Ran pretty good though in 3rd 4th and 5th...it was an automatic car. Why do you ask? I can tell you this...the benz feels much more solid...what do you think?

Six words into your post and i stopped reading, DO IT!
what?! i have to assume you haven't driven one. IMHO the interior is equal to MB.. if the OP wants fast for "cheap" GM is his ticket. The cts-v picks up power very quickly with very minor mods... the car is the perfect mix of power and beauty. intake, tune and pulley you are pushing 600bhp...the car is just a beast even in stock form.

I guess that's one of those things you can't really argue about.. If you ask ten people what's ugly and what's beautiful, youll likely get ten answers.
While I obviously am a fan of the E55/63, I think it's worst attribute is its weak appearance while the Cadillac is a sexy ***** with a style it's own.

Current: Cadillac CTS-V (V2), Chevy Cruze Past: E55k
I currently own a V2 and used to have an E55. Here are my unbiased impressions of the cars:
Looks
It's about even with the edge going to the V since it's more modern and polarizing on the road with it's sharp angles and killer hood. I loved my E55 and especially loved the quad exhaust setup. I'm not a big fan of the W212 exhaust appearance (except new 2014), but the W211 AMG rear looks great especially with the subtle rear lip. Classy and sporty at the same time.
Handling
No constest. V all the way.
Acceleration
A stock V is a little faster than a stock E55. The stock E55 feels faster because of how low the massive torque kicks in, but after that it's all V. IMO a 180mm pulley or similiar size pulley only E55 is slightly faster than a stock V. Once the V is modded it will be all over for most E55s unless they are full stage 3 meaning (pulley/tune/cooling/TB/headers). A stage 3 E55 is about equal to a intake/upper pulley/tune V. If the V adds either a lower pulley, headers, or a cam it's in tuned only biturbo M157 power and acceleration area. Add all of those mods and the V will easily surpass 640rwhp. There are quite a few Vs out there with close to well over 700 at the wheels on stock blower.
Interior
I like the V interior a little better, but I think that is mostly due to it being a newer model. A e55 interior is still a nice place to be for sure.

05 White Pano E55, Cadillac CTS-V
I am currently looking at Vs
Even been in talks with a guy selling one. Guys run stock blocks and transmissions to 800+whp too, and like mentioned above, the stock 1.9 liter blower is making over 700whp (on 93 octane) with all the bells and whistles done to the car (which is less than the cost of a Weistec).
They definitely aren't ugly, they are badass looking, and beyond beasts.

I asked bc I haven't and was considering the same or a C63. The touch, feel, and handling are almost as important to me as power.

I just want to go fast, but I think 'ugly' is a little far fetched! Build me a reliable 10 sec pinto with a/c and handling and I'll take it!![bow](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/bowdown.gif)
This is all about going fast for now without spending $75k on a 2012 bi-turbo that will depreciate $10k per year for the next 3 years. I can get into a V for $40k or less and in 2 years when the Bi-t is down in price I will get one in the $50k range... the V will lose maybe another $8k so for $4k a year I am thrilled. I am wise in buying cars bc they are the biggest money pits and it's kinda what I do everyday so it is my blood to lose as little as possible.
Keep in mind that I will sell my e55 in probably less than a week and possibly in as little as 2 days. I got a great car at a great price (after looking at over 10 of them) and I do not like sitting and waiting for the 'right' guy to buy my car...I generally sell any of my cars to the first person who comes to see it because I price them to sell them.

Get a V you will not regret it. I had both an E55 and a CLS55 and the V is just a better car and it is due mainly to the V being newer. There is a reason the E55s are selling for $15000. They are just getting old.

Thanks man! I appreciate that! If that deal for the CTS you are looking at falls through log onto CTsvforums.com. There are always members selling modded Vs in the classified section. If I had to do it all over again I might've went that router. There is actually one member selling a 640 rwhp 09 with about 40k on the clock for 43k. He has all the bells in whistles done already and he has claimed to embarrassed ZR1s, Vipers, GT500s, etc.

Also, there are quite a few members selling Vs with less than 40k miles. I expect quite a few of these cars to be up for sale and prices to drop a little once the generation 3 CTS-V makes its official debut at either the 2014 Detroit or NYC auto show.

One other thing...since taking ownership of this vehicle in Oct. 2012 for the exception of minor crap I have had no major mechanical issues. The drivetrain is rock solid!

What drives you guys who have sold your E55 for a V, to keep coming back to this forum?
I lose all interest in a car once I've sold it and moved on, so I'm just wondering.

Thanks buddy I will check the forums...one guy had a modded one listed for a month...I called him 30 minutes ago and he just posted on the forum that is sold!
What the hell are the odds are that?
I posted a new thread with some questions about modding and 84 people read it and not one reply! On this forum there would be 10 replies by now! I don't know what is with 'those' guys but just a quick review...you guys are much more helpful and responsive. Thanks again!
