Camshafts?

SLR valve springs with Kleemann camshafts? Do I need to replace my valve springs with new camshafts (54k miles) PTE camshafts still available? Are MHP camshafts good? Why do they call them apartments when they are together?

Stock springs will work with those cams but SLR springs are a tiny bit better. With 54K i wouldn't think the springs would need to be replaced.

I believe the supercharger has to come off to get to all the springs? Would you recommend Kleemann camshafts?

springs w/ camshafts

the supercharger do not have to come off to replace/remove springs. once the valve covers off, remove bridge and the springs are right there. the supercharged stays bolted on thru the whole process with camshaft replace/upgrade and/or springs removal/upgrade.

I have seen the spring type vary some on our 55K engines. I prefer the red stripe models( don`t have part number handy), if you go with stock springs. I would go with the SLR springs, if you have a choice.

Then it's settled...SLR springs it is. I should have Jerry put them in for me, but I'm kinda looking forward to doing it myself. For the record, Jerry's lead tech is freakin awesome. He'll probably have to fix my screw ups, anyways. lol

It's kind of a ***** to do the springs while the heads are on the engine, just so you know.

Exactly. Have fun with that! You're gonna wish you got the heads done at the same time.

Fwiw, the SLR springs are the same spring, just packaged separately.

Kinda looking at a sl65 (used) purchase in the beginning of next year. $4100 + $1200 labor for heads to gain 50 hp does not make my pocketbook happy, right now. lol

I just don't want to float a damn valve when at higher rpms. That would suck.

You'll be fine, plus heads are worth the trouble unless you get them done yourself by someone reputable.

I would like to have the head job done but results from head work has always been controversial or un-proved.
... easy to make mistakes there
would let it do only to someone who knows perfectly that engine
or, as I was advised from an extremely reputable company who did not know that engine (even if they knew very well other engines with red heads),
it has to be first put on a bench
