Thank you for the kind words! I have to let people know what happened so that maybe they can prevent it from happening to them.
WOW! Thank you!
Thank you! I've spent years trying to convince him that it wasn't his fault. He remembers it like it was yesterday. And still blames himself.
Sorry for your loss. As all fathers can relate and only feel grieve for your loss. When my friend lost his child he received this poem, which can only skim in what you feel and are going thru.
It must be very difficult
To be a man in grief,
Since "men don't cry"
and "men are strong"
No tears can bring relief.
It must be very difficult
To stand up to the test,
And field the calls and visitors
So she can get some rest.
They always ask if she's all right
And what she's going through.
But seldom take his hand and ask,
"My friend, but how are you?"
He hears her crying in the night
And thinks his heart will break.
He dries her tears and comforts her,
But "stays strong" for her sake.
It must be very difficult
To start each day anew.
And try to be so very brave-
He lost his baby too.

Out Of Control!!
You know, you told me the story back in April and ever since, I have always kept an eye out around our pool since family and friends are always over with little ones.
My condolences to you and your family and maybe some day you can find some solace that by sharing your story, you can save someone's little boy or girl.

Wow...words cannot describe the heavy heart you had and still have. I have a 15-month old son of my own, and I can vouch for all parents when I say this: even if you spend every single waking moment that you can with your child, it's never enough. We do the best that we can with what time we are given because you never know...those precious moments may be your last. That was very hard to read, but thank you for sharing. My condolensces.

It was difficult to read and I can only imagine what you and your family are living day-to-day. However, in a special way, for me your story did serve a purpose. Thank you for sharing!

Wow, this was not what I expected to read My condolences..
I can obviously understand everyone being upset and sorry, but I think for us that actually have children can't even fathom how hard this is for the OP and his family. I can easily say that losing a child is THE absolute worst thing a parent can possibly go through; just writing this is making me want to go home and grab my little man and hug/kiss him as much as possible. I can't imagine my life without him.
Stay strong OP, keep your head up, and know that she is looking down upon you all.

Sorry for your loss, as many of us parents, I am sure you all have had nightmares of almost every situation that could harm your child. The experience of it first hand will be beyond any imagination and dream. My family prays for continued healing for your family.

Such a hard thing to respond to, but impossible to ignore... I remember it from last year, but unaware, as many others, of the circumstances. You have gone above and beyond to share your experience in efforts of preventing others from sharing the tragedy. You have definitely got your point across and for that I am very thankful. Realize that "YOU," your character makes it that much more meaningful; you truly capture an audience. As a dad, I'm sure you are the Rock in the family, but at the end of the day when nobody is around we are all still human. My thoughts are with you, and your family.

Jesus, my heart was pounding reading your post. As a new father (well, my boy is two now), I have become extremely sensitive to the news, particularly with children. I cannot imagine how someone can move on from the death of their child, but obviously they do.
I am so sorry you and your family had to go through this with your little girl. I live in Arizona, where, as you can imagine, child drownings in pools is painfully common. This past year we put our boy in Infant Swim Self Rescue classes (http://www.infantswim.com/). If anything, it will allow a child to give you the precious moments you need to realize something is amiss and check on where your child is. I think we are going to plan on another child and I believe the minimum age for the ISR training is six months. Our next child will be in there as soon as reasonable.
Again, sorry for your loss.
Karl
