IC pump activation...

Discovered a little trick today on my 05 E55. It's seems there is a lot of issue with how and when the IC pump actually turns on. I stumbled upon this by accident and spent a couple days confirming its validity. I can make my IC pump pump turn on at anytime by simply doing a quick throttle stab to wide open. This even works on a cold startup or at any engine temp. As soon as the Computer sees TPS voltage go to WOT value it energizes the pump and it appears that once energized, it will not turn off until the ignition is switched off.
If your conserved about revving a cold engine (and in my opinion, you should be), don't worry. As long as your throttle jab is quick the engine won't even hit 2000 rpm.
I think this may be useful for some. Especially in a drag race situation where extended and constant IC circulation is desired.
Anyway, I've never seen this mentioned and thought some might find it useful.

Note: I have seen that if the coolant temp is high enough, like after a heat soak on a hot day, the pump will turn on in ignition position 2. But it will not if the temp is not at that predetermined level. This is a way to manually turn it on at any temp below that.

Very interesting find. I have my pump hard wired right now, but will try to switch back this weekend and test. (I have a split cooling setup now with a small radiator in the engine bay, so t will be easy to tell I this is true.)

This. I never have to worry about my pump switching on again.

That's interesting. I was told by OE tuning that it couldn't be done with a tune.
I kinda thought it was BS.

Guessing there's no how-to on how to do this? I have the bumper and HE off now for an install and coolant flush, and it might be an opportune time to accomplish it.

Matter of fact there is, I used it to do mine. Let me see if I can find it again

Found it: https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/...nger-prep.html

He shows the wire to tap into in the bottom of the first post.

Thanks! IT seems most of the work is done from the top, so I'll probably wait until I do the split cooling mod.
