New Owner with a couple questions
Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for all the great information that's been posted on here in the last 10 years since the w211 was initially release.
My car is a 2006 E55 with about 87k. I bought a car a month ago from a much older lady who lives in my community and it's been very well kept thus far. All service seems to have been done on time and at the dealership. I have a few questions about the services performed and my next move to ensure another 87k out of this car.
I don't see any records for having the transmission flushed and am wondering when this was suppose to be done. During one service at 40k the following was recorded.
"Pilot bushing won electohydraulic control unit remove/install/seal, replace if necessary.
Trans oil leaks, replaces trans electric plug and replace. Refill system and check level.
1 spacer
1 lock pin
1 trans fluid "
During a repair of this sort is the transmission fluid drained? If not when does this need to be done. I was told around 40k then again at 100k.
Next question.. Seems like the biggest issue with my particular car is a musty smell from the a/c. It was mentioned during the first 30k then again briefly 50-60k, but not since. Where does this originate from? Is there a way to prevent it before it happens again. Some type of flush was performed each time.
I would like to be able to rotate the tires and have debated purchasing a set of rear wheels and 265/18 all around. Is this common? Cons?
Thanks guys!

Congrats on the new car enjoy !Trans fluid probably was changed out at 40k I would probably do it again around 100k to be safe. I have 2005 e55 car has 103,000 miles I'm changing mine probably within a week when I have a chance. As far as the ac smell try changing the filters first see if that helps.

Congrats and Enjoy it in good Health !
All of you guys , who are planning to do Transmission fluid change , make sure you guys DON'T FLUSH IT JUST DRAIN IT AND THEN REPLACE
IT WITH NEW ONE. If you search around you'd see many people have experienced transmission failures right after "flush"

+1 on transmission drain, change filter/strainer & refill only.
A transmission flush or power flush seems to cause problems.

Thank you for the quick replies guys!
I'm happy to hear about doing the transmission myself. I'm all about the DIY for fun and knowing its done properly.
So far there's no smell, but today thanks to super rainy Florida I figured out why the previous owner kept complaining about smells. I have a leak at the top of the rear windshield dating back to 2007 when the GPS antenna was replaced by the dealer. I'll be calling the dealer on Monday hoping for a miracle that they'll correct the issue. Worst case in Florida our insurance company is responsible for the windshields when the vehicle has full coverage.
New question!!
I have access to a dyno and am interested in doing some minor tuning. After installing a few mods I'd like to correct the AFR across the board. I see there's a cable I can purchase for $100. Does the included software allow for tuning or only loading maps.
Thanks!

The issue I have with a flushing of a trans is that now you reverse the oil flow thru the trans which in effect takes the dirt and plate material that is trapped in the filter and recirculates it thru all the passages in the valve body and converter. Just how do you change the filter or clean out the debris sitting in the corners of the pan. It is just asking for trouble in my opinion. After the flush you now have the old filter in place fresh oil and debris spread throughout the internals of the trans. My thought could be all wrong but tell me of anyone that has had good luck with and after a trans flush.

Thanks man! How many miles with all those mods? I'd love to make the power you're making I'm just worried if it can handle it. From my understanding the motor and tranny are solid. The issue's I should expect are minor; sensors, buttons, suspension, nothing that will leave me stranded.
At what mileage do you think its time to take it easy? I saw one guy on here making 500whp with 165k; simply amazing!
