I bought my first Mercedes, a 2005 E55 AMG in Feb 2007 when I was 22. After owning three AMG cars (E55~E63~another E55) and driving a collective 120k miles in 6.5 years, I've sold mine and no longer a member of the AMG club.
My most recent E55 got hailed on a few months ago (infuriating because it was always babied,) then in the near future it would need a few maintenance things I decided not to fix (ball joints, brake pads, tranny flush, etc).... I just didn't want to invest all that money into it anymore.
The car had been parked for the last month. The reason for this was because all in two days I noticed: rear tires were down to metal cords (again lol), the power steering column/wheel stopped functioning up and down – therefore it was stuck in highest position, the LR air strut went out (I had replaced all the other ones lol) and finally there was a slight oil leak coming from somewhere.
I never advertised the car for sale and just spoke to some friends about it. So, I sold it tonight – to a friend of a friend. Easy deal and fair for both parties involved....
But I will still check back on here from time to time – enjoy your AMGs!
