Whats makes the Performance Package (Track Tuned Suspension) Different on my E63?

I have a 2008 E63 with the performance package. One of the options states "Track Tuned Airmatic Suspension" Its stiffer than the stock E63 suspension, but what exactly is different? Is it a component or just programming?

I had my car into the dealer for software updates on every module, and im probably crazy, but it felt like the ride got softer after the updates.. Im wondering if its strictly a programming thing, if the dealer updated the Airmatic to the stock E63 and not E63 with P030 Suspension Package...

I asked the tech how they did the update, and they said by entering a VIN Number in, so im probably just crazy.. but im still really curious as to what exactly is different on the P030 Package suspension component or programming wise?

Yea, I have the same question regarding this package. I have the P30 package on my 2008 as well and I have yet to see the $8,500 (MSRP) advantage of this package. I would have been super pissed had I paid that for it on a new car. Not sure what the $8,500 really gets you that is much different???

none
You get the CLK black series suede steering wheel, stiffer airmatic shocks, two piece rotors up front, and 40% locking ratio diff, 155mph speed limiter removed, and wider wheels out back.
It still is to this day a difficult option to find.

I still do not see how those things can add up to $8,500 and make sense for someone to buy... Guess that is why it is so rare. I hope it helps me if I ever decide to sell mine.

All e63's had the two piece ( expensive!) rotors. The 030's may be larger though. I know on the 030 sl's they used sl65 brakes.

I kinda like the 2 piece 030 wheels.

If Wikipedia is to be believed....
The AMG Performance package P030 added electronic speed limiter deletion, limited-slip rear differential, alcantara sports steering wheel, stiffer valving Airmatic suspension over the standard AMG tuned Airmatic, AMG 18 in (457 mm) 5-spoke multi-piece wheels, and optional AMG carbon fibre trim.

Did they charge you to do the software updates?

Yea they charged me to do the updates.. So I guess I actually have stiffer valving and its not just a software thing.. Good to know..

My CLS P030 has

2 Piece Forged wheels, (like the one in the pic posted above)
A limited Slip differential (Absolutley love it.. plants the car and none of that AMG 1-wheel drive BS!)
Alcantara Steering wheel
Track Tuned Suspenion (Stiffer valving as mentioned above)

I paid top price for my car... well worth it..
