There isn't a night and day improvement, you're correct on that note. To say there is no improvement in cooling is incorrect. I feel a difference after just beating the crap out of my car on the 10 miles driving home today. Something Else I noticed and probably not very smart is the temperature of the coolant. After getting home I opened the reservoir to check the level and stuck my finger inside to feel the temperature. It was warm, not steaming not like the coolant tank for the motor. That tank I didnt dare touch.
Bigger is better, 100% correct, but 99% of us aren't tracking the car. For a $25 tank, and $10 worth of fittings and clamps you really can't go wrong.

Remember, you cannot add cold, you can only remove heat. Oversize HE's do a good job of reducing the coolant to ambient temperature before returning it to the IC. As we all know, the IC in the E55 has limited BTU capacity unlike the twin top mounted IC's of the SLR. The best that can be done in our case is meth and chilled coolant.
Again, for myself, I'm satisfied with an larger HE and other cooling modifications. With an ambient of 80F at 500' MSL, a WOT run to, let's say, 175 MPH produces a max IAT of about 155F with recovery to 100F in less than 30 seconds. Just returned from Dresden (about a 300 mile run) and with the cruise control set on 110 MPH, the IAT was steady at about 15F over ambient or about 75F.

I thought the whole point of split cooling was to split the circuit of water flow of the engine and HE? In other words, the engine water doesn't go through the HE and create higher IATs? That has to have at least some impact on IATs, no?
What am I missing here? Thanks.

I ordered a SDS system from Shardul last week. From my understanding I can activate the pump with that system if I decide to take it to the track.
I don't want to run it 24/7 so it doesn't burn out sooner. I don't really rape my car 24/7, only on really good days, really bad days and typical days

And I wouldn't call it rape; such a harsh word. More like, "forced love via right foot."

I almost want to take back saying its not night and day. I did 9 back to back 30-120 pulls on the way to work and by the 8th I still had at least 400hp lol.. Normally by the 5th I'm getting beat by civics.

Don't get me wrong, I am not expecting a 30-40* drop in IATs, but even 5-10* drop makes it worthwhile when you're running only slightly over ambient (like in my case, for instance) in the humid summer months just cruising around. For example, if it's 65-70* ambient, with my current setup, I right around 75* cruising around town, no WOT runs or blower engagement. With the split cooling, I'd like to be right around ambient temps cruising around. That would satisfy me ... every bit helps. It's for those 3-4 months of summer that our cars suffer.
I'm not worried about the Fall and especially the winter months as the car feels like it gains 100HP At least up North here...you Cali and Florida guys, sorry

I actually just had my kit show up today. Anyone have pictures of the lies and mounting of the reservoir? The how to on here no longer has the pictures attached to it.
