This is awesome, I can only imagine how it must feel up top and I forgot that you had the heads as well so this mod is a great compliment to the increased airflow I would dare to say its a must if you upgrade your heads.

I don't think I was clear enough here. Everyone who uses the Audi TB needs to do the pin swap to make it spin the other way or it won't open. Here is a great pic that Lowprofile took. It shows that if they are mounted the same way, the Audi TB spins opposite to the Merc one. Some theorize that it is this directional opening difference that can cause the hiccup.
Thanks for the info. Looks like I need to get a good custom tune .. thanks for justifying it![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I believe my old one is an Audi unit. I had to swap pins on the connector to make it open the "correct" way.
When I got my car, I never got over 19.x mpg. MBH headers and midsection added a lot. I drove it up to get tuned after installing them (before adding a TB, rail, injectors, etc) and I got around 23mpg driving up to LA. The ported heads with larger valves helped a lot, also.

What is the common denominator?
I still cant figure this one out.
I took mine apart and slowly put it back together checking every seal.
@ Hawkins are you using an adapter plate or direct bolt on?
same question to you saleen01?
has anyone fixed this issue after having it?
most people I know go down to the 80
I guess I should start looking for an 80mm.

This place is a joke.
Nobody has taken my advice to have the dealer flash the latest software, and then install your (performance) retune on top of that.
I have zero issues with the 82mm, I have also raised my base idle speed to the high limit. Driveability is the same as stock.
Good job on the 90mm, would love to see some dyno and track numbers!

Sheeeeeit, I've got a 175mm lower and the smaller upper (clutched) pulley. I'm really considering the clutchless one, too. Bramage is getting his put on real soon and I will be able to make a judgement then.
But, I'm with Roverron in that I want to see this mysterious issue get solved. It can totally be lived with and "driven around", but seeing as how that and my rear O2 sensors still throwing codes are the only issues I am having with a car that is this modified, I can't complain too hard. It still eats when I feed it, lol.

You could start your trip cross country now and make it just in time for MIR
I am not saying my car does not have it's quirks, it just does not have the hiccup. Trying to get a smooth idle with 1000cc injectors with our AWESOME ecu's is a task. It does not like idle or bumper to bumper traffic, but loves WOT and freeway cruising.
Wonder how much this mod pics up over the 82mm.

@E55Greasemonkey ok let me get this straight I just make an appointment at dealer to have them flash car to latest software?
My worry is one cost and two what if its the opposite and the later file is the issue.
I will look at going to dealer and if they will even do it.
Cant a tuner flash an ECU to stock?
I thought they kept stock files

Out Of Control!!
Nice job pushing the envelope!
Are both your SC inlet and adapter bored out to 90mm? I read where you said the adapter tapers from 90 to 82 so I wasn't sure.
That really looks almost stock to you?

What I was saying was if they have newer stock files on hand from another car that doesn't have this issue.

Thanks, but I think I'm the third person to do this 90mm. Now that you're in this thread, let's talk about your X-pipe. Does that just pop in after the midpipes right where the resonator is?
The inlet was bored out a little before it was mated up to the 82mm. Right now the adapter tapers from the 90 to the 82, but that's only because I didn't want to pull off the supercharger to remove the snout. I don't have the garage space to do that kind of work for now. Eventually, I will pull it and I would like to come up with a better solution. Maybe cut the snout back, open it up to 90mm, and permanently fix the adapter to it (while opening that up to 90mm, too). This would give about an extra inch of space around the Y-pipe area. It is way too tight back there (What she said).
Exotic was just saying how nice and clean it all fits there. Maybe I'll get a nice AMG logo to put on that TB cap there. Hmmm....

Its strange that you are experiencing a hiccup at exactly the same time. You would have thought that with a larger TB it may have actually moved through the rev range, speed or load slightly

It seems like most of us with this issue has the bolt on adapter plate.
I guess next week I will call stealership and ask if they will flash the ECU.

It would be nice to know how to dial in the mpg calculator for specific injector sizes.
In other news, dropped the hammer last night at 80mph and got the flashing triangle
