I got the blower off yesterday but didn't remove the intercooler. Now that the used blower is here (thanks Grip Grip) I will finish taking it apart. I did remove the front case and holy hell they were not kidding about the damn smell..the used oil smells like a barnyard! There was a decent amount in there though so I dont think low oil was the cause.
Looking into the throttle body port there is some signs of damage already. I am hoping whatever went through there will be obvious to me. I am also hoping my intercooler is not contaminated as I don't want to risk something going through my motor.
We will know later today I guess

Well gentleman the verdict is in....and its all MB at fault here. I am pretty upset. After taking off the throttle body housing on the blower I noticed a bunch of damage and a nice fat chuck of what looked almost like welding rod jammed in the screws.
My next question was "where the hell could that come from and how did it make it past the throttle body?!"
Well my question was answered when I grabbed my STOCK intake setup. It seems one of the reinforcement rings on the factory Y pipe decided to come loose and made its way all the way into the blower. These rings are there to keep the intake from collapsing on itself under boost.
I am just beside myself here. How can a factory part fail like that and that manner?! I don't even trust reusing the intercooler now as i'm sure metal went through it. I sure as hell cant reuse this intake pipe as 1. It could pull the other rings out and 2. It will probably suck closed under boost without that ring. Time for an intake I guess...
So now im up to:
New blower
New Intercooler
Aftermarket Inrake pipe setup.
this blows....

This has been known to occur when the retaining ring became dislodged after the "Y" pipe had been previously removed.

Shes almost back together now. I looked at the intakes out there and I think I am just going to have AMS build me a one off just so I dont have to worry about this problem down the road. Being that I never removed the y-pipe or even contorted it since I owned the car (about 1.5 years) I just cant trust it moving forward.

Just an update, the car is running like a top. Honestly I think its stronger than before the blower took a dive on me. Ill have to measure boost to see what its making now.
I decided to pick up a new stock intake tube while i was waiting to get the car in for a tubular counterpart. When calling MB I found out there are only 2 drivers side pipes in the world and then they are being discontinued permanently with no replacement part scheduled. I had them send one of the two from Germany. looks like I caught a break for once.
Thanks again to all involved. sadly this little endeavor ate up my wheel budget so ill have to put that off a few more months. That just means more browsing and gawking on here to find a set I like.

Your not in the Chicagoland area by chance are you? I was by the parts dept at my dealer today and someone called about a part and heard that there was only 2 left in the world. If you were the one calling, it's a small world.
