Transmission flush

So, I'm planning to take the Beast in for a transmission flush.

I know there are risks associated with it but if the transmission is only holding together because of gunk until now then

might as well let it break now rather than on a long trip.

Is there some special fluid for AMG or any high brand would work ?

Also, am I to notice a change after the flush or it's just maintenance ?

I think I also read that these trans are lifetime sealed ? In that case why is it even needed ?

Just got the trans mounts changed, so I thought now I'd this. The sticky shows that I need filter but how much fluid is required ? 1 quart or more ?

No way. I don't know the exact figures but a flush is 10 qts or so and and just a filter change is 4 qts or so. Don't quote me on those numbers, but 1qt is 100% wrong.

I would do a transmission oil change and not a flush, that's just me though.

I've used anywhere from 4 to 5.5 qts for a drain and fill with a new filter. Buy 6 and expect to have about 1 qt left over.

I'm not sure specific to these cars, but on many other makes and models automatic transmission are known to continue functioning despite neglect for long periods of time, and what finally does some of them in is a new owner doing a fluid flush, breaking loose the debris that may have been keeping the internal clutches holding. Then, suddenly, the transmission slips or doesn't work at all.

I would find it amazing if someone were to abuse these cars to that level. Not that I'm saying it's impossible.

Make sure you have a proper measuring tool to get the correct level and follow the MB procedure for obtaining an accurate reading.

Interesting, im going to be having mine done here in a few weeks...

Question,
if the engine is replaced, would the trans fluid need to be changed also?

The engine and transmission share no fluids. So "need" would not be the correct word. However, depending on the reason for the engine replacement, and just as a general item, I see no reason why changing it would be a bad thing. As pointed out, if a flush leads to the transmission failure, it was only a matter of time anyway - the new fluid was not the actual failure mechanism.
