E55 Paddle Shifters

Hi guys,

I've recently bought an E55 2003. Ive tried to use the paddle shifters, but they only works on the "M" mode.

Is there a way to make the paddle shifters always ready so that it can work on "C" and "S" mode as well ?

Ive searched the forum but couldn't find an answer, sorry.

I believe the 03 models only can paddle shift in M mode. Maybe a TCU tune could fix this?

They work when in C or S and obviously M. When driving in C or S just use the downshift paddle once and it will activate the paddle shift mode. I have a 2006.

What model is your e55 ?

Looks like 2003 e55s can only use paddle shifters in "M" mode only .. and 2004+ can use paddle shifters in any mode (M/C/S)

my dad has a heavily modified 03 S55(with TCU tune) and his only works in "M"

My 05 E55 (bone stock) can switch in any transmission mode.

I know my dad has looked into trying to get his to work like mine(we have star developer at the house) but was unsuccessful.

SL55 is similar in that 2003 shifts with steering wheel button ONLY when in manual mode.

for 2004 the SL55 steering wheel shift buttons work in all three modes. The difference is in the TCU (034 545 1032). ... perhaps this functionality can be changed in the TCU tune?

As I understand it, TCU # 034 545 1032 is used in both SL55 and E55 in 2004 (along with a different transmission valve body that included blue-tops).

Hi

I have a 2003 E55 and would like my new to arrive paddle shifters to work in all modes. I have a custom Eurocharged tune an also own Star diagnostic developer.

Does anybody know if Star of it Eurocharged can make my paddle shifters work in all modes M/C/S?

Regards,

OZZYAMG

I briefly explored this on my 2003 SL55 using a star with developer mode (changing variant coding to that of a 2004 TCU, etc). I didn't look into it too deeply as I decided instead to replace/upgrade my TCU and valvebody (with 2004 units).

HOWEVER, I would imagine that it would NOT be impossible to do it with the star OR with a TCU re-program (it seems like a simple difference that CAN'T require any hardware change).

This solution should be the same for both SL55 and E55.

I would ask eurocharge if they can add this to the TCU reprogram. I noticed recently that user RAWAMG has a 2003 SL55 with a TCU retune AND he has recently become a eurocharge dealer (if I understand correctly) ... perhaps he can get Jerry to sort this out ?

Yes, but make sure you do it when you're not close to switching a gear (don't change it on heavy acceleration).

I see.

The difference between S and C is that one starts from first gear and the other starts from the second .. No difference in suspension I guess ?

S is more sporty with it's shifts than C.

Suspension is not affected by transmission mode. The suspension is adjusted with the airmatic button in front of the shifter.

I have an 03 and have been researching the same thing, already tried checking all the codings in trans, esm and scm to no avail, going to try and get my hands on a 034 545 10 32 trans module (mine currently is a 033 545 14 32) and see if that does the trick.
