How do I know if airmatic pump is bad?
Is there anyway to check and find out for sure if it's bad? I read some threads suggesting that sometimes it's just the filter and springs. Occasionally I feel a vibration through the chassis and ever since I lowered my car with star it seems to sag lower. Anyone?

if the pump is going bad you will get a error on the instrument cluster.
the airmatic system does a self test each time you turn the car on. if the pump exceeds the preset time to fill the central reaervior you will get a malfunction message.

so i guess its not bad, i'm assuming the replacing the springs will eliminate the vibration i'm feeling through the chassis?

The SBC does vibrate and make some noise on occasion but that's only for a few seconds ....just throwing it out there in case that describes what you're feeling/hearing
it's always hard to diagnose something over the Internet ...but if you feel fairly confident that it is the airmatic compressor, I had also read somewhere that you can do a test in STAR/DAS if it makes you feel any better. I think I had read somewhere that another member had success with damping the vibration by changing the Springs, seems like a lot of work just to change out parts, and not know if that is actually your issue? I just don't know though... At this point I should probably stop typing, sorry for the rant. Good luck
