Damn, I love this car. After years of loyal Audi
ownership, I picked up a 2006 E55 a couple days ago. It drives like a fighter jet..point and go. I'm loving it; now I need to figure all the little nuances about the car. i.e. I want to get the brake fluid and transmission fluid replaced...what is the best type? or do I stay with Mercedes recomended fluids?

DO you need the fluid changed ? is it black ? changed color ?
Also, my dealer told me that the transmission fluid needs change "once" at
60,000 kms so 30k miles and that's it. People here do get it replaced though more often.
Here is a thread which will help you with your basic questions.

I was just reading that thread. In regard to the ATF, a friend has a Transmission
shop and he owes me a favor. I'll pickup the parts/fluid and he'll service it for free. Regardless, if it's bad or not, I want to replace all fluids/filters, just to be safe.

Welcome! I recently purchased mine a month or 2 ago (101k) and I drive my baby DAILY! 11 mpgs are haunting me. First few things I did on fluid flush (eng, trans, rear diff), complete tune up (plugs, wires, coils), K&N filter, belts, thermostat,sc tensioner, little misc sensors and I can tell you that the car was DAY and NIGHT from when I got it. Cost me $1500 in parts maybe and I did all the work myself. Everyone else on the forums say parts last xxxx amount of miles but efficiency on these cars are what matters. I do not plan to mod the car at all (i live in CA) and since I got a killer deal and save money by not modding I drive my baby daily. Next thing is lower ball joints which seem to be an issue and a few bushings. Welcome to the forums sir. I deal in W211 parts so if you need any interior pieces or what not let me know Ive got em all!

Welcome - Great idea to change some of the fluids now - it's going to benefit you in the long run.
I still have two a4's and one of them is going to be replaced real soon and I'm on the fence as to what to replace it with?
PICS?
