getting ready to do trans fluid/filter change question about filter and oil.
this is the DIY im going to be using, have a question in regards to the filter, oil and gasket.
what brands of filters are ok to use? meyle, mann, filtran, or just go with the dealer one?
want to do a complete flush, other than the MB trans fluid is there a cheaper alternative i could use?
Shell 134 ATF is approved but has mixed reviews and Valvoline Import Multi-Vehicle Full Synth ATF is the other ive been reading about.
Which do you recommend? winters get pretty cold here down to the teens and summers have been known for mid 90 temps for weeks.
also is it necessary to replace the pan gasket at 50k?

I did a flush on my E55 transmission within 2 weeks of owning my car.
I had my dad for help, who has an S55 that we had done before. We are about to do his car again(30K miles since we originally flushed it).
We used shell 134 for both of our cars and I used a mann filter but my dad used OEM and we changed the gasket both times, just because its like $8.
I would go with the OEM filter because the price change for aftermarket was not justified it was just convenient.
But the shell 134 has been great, we get it from a local distributer.. 12 quarts for $65..

Make sure you get the fluid level exact and check it several times after you drive a while. These trannies freak over a few ounces over and under I stay with MB fluid and filter in my changes.

Hey what part of CT are you in?
if you need an extra hand doing the trans fluid let me know, If you aren't too far I can lend a hand...
I haven't done any tranny work but can help out and since i'm having engine issues, I will also do my trans fluid before I get my car back on the road (hopefully soon)

can anyone chime in on diff fluid? trying to wrap up my pelican parts order, need a few bucks more for free shipping. looking at Fuchs Sintopoid Ls 75W-140 or should i go with redline or royal purle 75w 90 considering the winters get kinda cold out here?
