Dickscount Tire....what morons!!!

Went in to get my Invo's road force balanced today on the E55.....and left really pissed off. I put the wheels and tires on about 2 months ago, Lorenzo Staggered Forged Wheels and Nitto Invo's 245/30/20 up front and 285/25/20 rear. So after 35 minutes of typing numbers and forumlas into their computer, comparing graphs, charts and adding numbers they concluded that it was illegal to pull the car into the shop and was unsafe for me to drive off. My business is selling wheels and tires, and yes they are right the Invo's come just under the load capacity for our cars by a few hundred pounds on the front but in no way shape or form "unsafe". So they made me an offer to swap out the front tires with a 245/35/20 free of charge with new ones that they would be able to "legally" balance. Being the smartass that i am I asked them if i brought them the wheels off the car, could they balance them? Nothing......Never again will i take anything to these idiots. I will just have to invest in a roadforce balancer myself.

sounds like they adhered to the legal stipulations and refused to bend the rules of balancing an under capacity tire and risk their business .

not morons but rather businessmen who wont trade their business practices just to make a buck.

So what is your point "tiremanstick". If by chance you have a mishap with your car and your insurance company catches on or better yet the other vehicles owner's insurance company catches on, just who will be the moron then. Just asking!

I can see them refusing to sell and install the tires on a car, that makes sense....but just a rebalance...cmon now! Where do you guys get your tires installed/balanced? I know a lot of you guys are running the same setup.

To be technical the Front GAWR of the E55 is 2395 LB...the 245/30/20 Nitto Invo is rated at 1323 LB per tire x 2 = 2646 LB. So legally these tires are rated for the weight capacity of the car. Discount tire goes by the factory tire specs on the car not the actual vehicle weight.

Sadly that's the world we live in today. All because someone ha an accident and found any and every loophole possible to sue a company. Same reason McDonalds now has to let you know your hot coffee is actually hot.

Some idiot would sue saying that DT should have informed them that the tires weren't up to the job at that time.

This. I don't let anyone other than myself handle my wheels and tires. Most tire shops can't ballance for ****. Let alone carefully mount and dismount tires without damaging something.

It's a rediculous world we live in....i hate how things have become. I mount and balance myself as well but can't seem to get this tiny vibration out so wanted to get them roadforce balanced. Guess i'll pull them off and rebalance. I took it to Discount because my buddy is a tech there and knew he would do it right....but yeah i wouldn't take my car to any random shop! lol Had to Vent!!

I love Discount Tire. They have great customer service, prices and tires. They always price match and or beat the price I bring them. They are a great tire company doing great work. Sounds like a little misguided hatred. Hate the guy that sued them for not adhering to the rules.

As mentioned, its the world we live in. When something goes wrong, people use the shot gun approach and find everyone else thet can to blame...but themselves..

Btw, the mcdonalds case is not what it appeared as the media reported (suprised)? For instance, there were internal emails about the coffee being dangerously hot but mgmt felt it made the taste better. Do a little reading on the case and you will realize how bad the media is...can you say Zimmerman?

I will give them credit, they will bend over backwards to make a sale even if they are losing money on it.

Long time no chat emoving, but on topic I as well haven't had a problem with Discount Tire. They always price match as well and try to get me the best deal, and I'm really picky about my rubber.

Did you try another Discount Tire? Can you just tell them it's a lighter car, like an e350? lol.

Now don't take this personally, but those tires do look really tiny. Is there also a big deal about going to a 35 series? Does it fit?

245/30 is the correct size diameter for upsizing.

I could probably get away with a 245/35/20 since i'm not lowered but I want to keep factory diameters. The next set i may go with a 255/30/20 front and 295/25/20 rear. Looks like i have the room.
