Weird 55 DAS question

Anyone know how to access a 55K ECU without a CGW present in their vehicle? I understand if you own a 55 you wouldn't need to deal with this problem, but figured I would post here anyway just in case.

you may have to manually select the vehicle to get to the control units.

That's what I tried first, then tried with the VIN coded in the Immo. As soon as I select ME SFI it says it cannot connect to unit and if you click ok and try again it says, cannot connect to CGW.

yeah then you may be out of luck. you will need a new CGW they are relatively cheap.

My car never came with one, I wonder how fitting one in would go.

it is a small box with one connector for a harness. All you would have to do is find the harness and plug in the CGW. it is located under the dash by the hood release.

Do you think I have a connector for it already there? I have an R170.

Central Gateway. It's a long shot trying to rig one into place but I need a solution to get into this ME unit in DAS Developer. Pre-coding my modules to this ECU didn't work. The ECU is worthless without the CGW or a bypass of some sort.

The higher end MB models came with it as another communication module. The lower end SLK's, C's etc. don't have them. Hell the R170 doesn't even have a SAM.

Wow, well I'll go looking for it and see what I find. For coding a CGW, do I need a new one or can I buy used? I saw one for $50 which is why I'm asking.

Well thanks Shardul, I'll go looking for the plug in a few and report back.

Do you think that there will be issues since I don't have a SAM, DAS module or most of the other modules you guys have? I have an RCM, SKREEM, and run the old style transponder key. I'm guessing I could set all of it to not present in the cgw coding but want to make sure.

Edit: I meant I don't have a DAS Module not EIS.

No plug found under the dash, but I think I figured it out.

Thanks again for the help Shardul,
Josh

This place is a joke.
If your 170 has it...did you try the 38 pin underhood connector? Or, the obd2 under dash?

My R170 is the newer without the 38 pin, I only have the 16.

Ok, did you try telling star you were working on a 55 and manually accessing the ecu? Aka control units/drive/me
