Help needed, Like fingers on a chalk board
Well, I hope you are all right on this list as to how much you love your E63's, as I decided to pick up an 07 E63 and took delivery Monday....
Hoping it's not already falling apart...
Ok, day 3 and the fan has begun squeaking. Although softly, it's like fingers on a chalk board....
I'm guessing the fan bearing is going bad.....
Is there an easy fix or (as I am dreading,) is the dash coming off...?
Is it too last to give it back?

65 Chevelle Wagon w/ C5 frame, 08 ML63, 04 S600, 04 E55,(sold) 00 ML55,(sold) 98 C43-55K Swap
The fan you talk about, is it the blower motor for the heat/AC? Does the noise change with blower speed? Blower motors squeaking/chirping on w211's is very common. I've never tried lubing the bearings but its worth a shot. It's easy to get to. Under the passenger side dash, remove the plastic under panel (3 t25's if I remember correctly) the blower will be right there. Another 3 or 4 torx screws and its out. Should be out in less than 5 min.

Thanks for the tip StockC!
Sorry, yes it's the blower fan, and squeaking is speed (fan speed) dependent. If I turn the fan off, squeak goes away.
I was afraid someone was going to say I had to pull the dash to get to the heat/fan motor....
I've got no experience with MB product, so again, thanks!

I just replaced one in my wife's friends 2010 ml350. Very easy as stated, but cost $480 from the dealer! Hers had a problem with the electronic board shorting out from water. It was about $100 cheaper online, but she didn't want to wait as she was freezing from no fan.

I would not recommend drilling any part of the fan. It would throw the balance off. If you look at the fan blades from the back side, typically, there are weights to balance them
I have not tried this on Mercedes but on Audi (similar design) there is sometimes a c-clip that holds the fan in place that can be removed. Again not sure on Mercs. Either way, I would try not to drill the fan.
