Yes sir, one in each basket on the US passenger side. We did not touch the sender unit on the US driver side with this project, although I am working on eliminating that sender unit/fuel filter crappy setup.

Craig & Forrest,
What filters did you use with your AEM fuel pumps? Where did you locate them? Any photos of install?

I used the black AEM fuel pumps because I still run pump gas. The AEM comes with:
-electrical plug-to splice into the stock harness
-filter
-hose and clamps

To make this work for me I have to dremel out the bottom of the baskets, removed the filters and slid the stock pumps out.

On the AEM units:
-put the hose on the fuel outlet and put a clamp on the hose tight
-intall the filter on the pump
-slide the pump and filter assembly thru the opening on the bottom of the basket that you've dremel out earlier
-connect the fuel hose and clamp it tight
-connect the electrical lines
And you should be set.

Forrest, if there's only one pump on the stock setup why did you use 2 aem pumps?

Or is there 2 pumps in the stock setup?

I thought the other side is a sender

The 03-06 E55 use two pumps and a sender.

As far as the special tool goes, a hammer and a big flat head screw driver work great. I've taken my fuel pump in and out many times I can R&R one in 30 min. It's not that hard, just don't forget any hoses.
can you show me how to open the fuel filter cap,iam trying rotate clockwise but notthing, thnx

Locked position on right mark, unlocked position on left mark. Vise with padding and a strap wrench. Takes quite a bit of effort to separate. Use lubricant to reassemble (KY jelly or similar). BTW, you resurrected a thread that is eight years old.

Thanks for the pictures, definitely helped. One thing I'll add, once I depressed that little locking tab, mine was extremely easy to open. It turned like it was its job. I didn't have to disconnect anything or take the sending unit out of the car. For anyone trying this, I'd suggest trying it in situ first.
