E63 Muffler Delete or Resonator Delete
Hey everyone,
In the process of selling my car and getting a replacement 2007 E63 for a little more power and fun
and I'm considering that I might want to approach the way I do an exhaust mod on this car a little differently than my E550, on which I did a muffler delete and J-pipe (helmholtz resonator for cancelling out droning frequencies) and I am very happy with. Yet, I have never heard of anyone doing a muffler delete on an E63.
I want to go with a sound that keeps the German V8 tone (not too muscle car sounding) but is a bit louder when I lay into it, something still fairly civil when cruising or idling, and also something that doesn't rob any power or low end torque. I've seen several videos online of resonator deletes and some seem about what I'm after, and others seems a little too muscle car sounding. Any advice? In a perfect world I'd fork out the cash for an Eisenmann or Meisterschaft exhaust but I don't always think that's necessary. Thanks!

On my first e63 I had a resonator delete with an x pipe in its place an everything else stock. The sound IMO doesn't seem like it changed much, but I have a friend that did the same to his e63 but with headers an no cat. IMO way way to loud. My second e63 right now has a meistershaft gt race exhaust, an at wot sound amazing. At low speed you still hear it meaning very light droning. I am currently selling my meistershaft exhaust because I'm going to do full custom work to achieve what I want.

On my e63, I just did a resonator delete and left it all stock. Sound didnt get too much louder but more refined. Has a nice bark to it. Esp when engine braking...the burbble is amazing.

Hmmm that sounds like what I'd be after it if it was louder, I LOVE my current exhaust on my E550 which is a muffler delete (I do get burbling and popping as well) so I might try the same thing on an E63 if I get it, worst comes the worst I can have the mufflers re-installed.

That's definitely another option, with the resonator delete and C63 mufflers should I just straight pipe the resonators or do some type of x-pipe setup?

on my 07 E63 i have res delete with X pipe in place, the rest is stock, sounds perfect(to me). The only reason i'm not doing headers is i'm afraid to lose the sound, well, that and the fact that i can't find shorties.

You have a video? I've seen a lot on YouTube of E63 resonator deletes but some sound too muscle-car like and others sound about right so it's hard to tell. Thanks for the input everyone.

2014 E63s 1993 mazda rx7 on Boost
Headers and high flow Cats...all else stock
Add a tune and you are good to go...
Headers is where these car pick up on power.
No sense in having a loud slow car.

I wouldn't call the E63s low 4 second sprints to 60 slow but that's true... I'm still in the mindset that if I do a muffler delete J-Pipe that it will sound great since the same is true with my E550. I actually like the Eisenmann exhaust with no res better than the Meisterschaft with no res... thoughts?

ive an e55 with meistershaft mufflers , kleemann header with no prime cats , I have stock secondary and res.
its already loud and drones ... if you get it... don't need to delete res. imho.... or you can try it with seconds on then decide...just an idea

IMO you need not make an E63 louder to let people know you are coming it is more precious to get the respect once you arrive. With age comes experience, with experience comes respect, with respect you do not have to show off your 500HP car. They make Hondas and Mazdas for that. LOL

There is one guy around here with an E55 that is getting C63 mufflers so maybe I should take a listen once those are installed
