It's one thing or another!!
I usually don't drive my car in the winter, but I've always go start up the car and let it run for about 15 min at least once a week.
Three weeks ago, go to start the car the battery was death. No big deal, jump the car, drove to advance auto part, swap out for another battery, life goes on.
Last week Saturday I decide to take the car for a quick short drive, hit a pot hole, the car felt on it face, run for another 100 yards and die. Everything looks normal, no puddle, no funky smell, no blown fuses. The car just crank and crank and crank. Sounds like no fuel. Towed the car home, open up the fuel pump, and voilà, the plastic retainer clip that hold the fuel line to the pump came loose. Clipped it back, triple check it, button it up, and the car roar to life.
I've been driving my car with the red battery screen for the last two years. I've changed the voltage regulator but that did not go away. So I got some free time and the car need some tlc. Channged out the alternator, primary O2 sensors, changed the engine oil, coolant, installed the lighted door sills, and while I'm at it may as well do the E63 mufflers (had theses sitting in the garage for the last two years). The car roar to life with a little crackle and pop, all my pain and tired went away. Jump in for a quick drive and OMG, why didn't i do the e63 sooner. At normal cruising it's like stock, you'll barely hear anything. Get on it and all hell breaks loose. I'm driving around in 20 degree weather with the windows down and grinning ear to ear. My buddy came along (in case the car break down) in his modified sti was impress with the new exhaust, he was three car behind me on the freeway and still hear it loud and clear. Success!!
And today, driving to work the temp was hovering around 100, which is strange. It's 20 outside, usually the temp is around 80 in this weather. As soon as that though went thru my mind, the check coolant popped up, the temp crept up to 120. ****ttt!!! I pulled over immediately, stopped the engine, popped the hood, a pool of coolant right under the passenger headlight. Pulled the passenger side intake hose, low and behold, the radiator hose came loose. Fuuuck!!! Let the engine cool down a little bit wrestle with the clip and hose but I got it back in. Triple check the damn hose, seem tight. Put a whole gallon of coolant in and it's still not top off. Luckily I have four bottle of water and it took all three and a half to top off. Start up the car the temp dropped down to 80. I'm crossing my finger and pray for everything ok. I really don't want pull the heads but if I do may be ported heads?? I've just felt in love all over again for this car and please no more trouble. Thanks for reading my rant.

Sorry to hear about your troubles brotha! Just glad they are minor things and nothing major. I went through a bunch of problems at the beginning of last year, so I know how it feels.

This is the main reason I DD my E55. I can not justify fixing all these little problems if I am not getting some enjoyment out of the car.

that i too noticed
but i too had the same issue kinda when i had my split cooling system done i was a decent distance from home or dealer so one of the hoses decided to crap out and dump out all my cooling in the middle of a parking lot and i had just done the cooling fresh. Had to wait like 2hrs almost for the stupid tow truck to come loaded her up and dropped her right at the dealer. While the car is waiting there for my tech guy to take it since i had to go find him the right fitting for the T hose, we go out to get the car and notice the front airmatic decided it was time to crap out on me, i was like greattttttttt anything else while were at it lol. I keept cool, its w.e my right side was out but i ordered both left and right. Anyways long story short they can sometimes be pain in the *** but every time you get on the damm car you fall in love again and again.

Damm forest, I feel for you bro. Loving cars is almost as expensive as a woman lol. What's love of it isn't keeping you on your feet and making you spend your hard earned money! I'm glad you know exactly what your doing. If it was my ***, I'd be in some trouble, that's why I'm on here to learn as much about these cars as possible.

Make sure u fix the radiator n do a coolant flash to get rid of the water in the system.also change the small utility battery in the front of the car if you want the light to go off.is not the alternator.located in passanger back side under a plastic cover

Car def is a love hate relationship!!!! Hate it when small things need fixed. Fuel units took a dump at same time as my cps. Now ds suspension creaking. Replaced the lower ball joints and think maybe the upper ball joints.

Thanks for the kind words. I'm definitely not going to trade this thing in for a cts-v anytime soon. Just like some of you said, as pain in the *** as these cars are, they always bring joy when thing work properly.
