OK, you guys need to read my previous post... Not trying to get you E guys fired up, raced severak Es before the pulley and tune, some were moded, other S drivers have the same results etc etc. I already knew that in general the S55s were faster just wanted to figure out why. The above thread outlines some of those reasons. Guys, a good running S55 "IS" faster than an E55 unless there is a big difference in mods. It's just the way it is... I didnt make them that way AMG did. And yea, I love the E55. Heck of a car!!!

S55K is the one of the powerFUL M113K platform, that's the fact...,

as "E55Greasemonkey" stated, I think If E55 using the same S55 2.82 diff. & wheels with tires,

that may gives more fair to comparing isn't....??

Not trying to start anything but hmm.... Stock E times vs modded S times. If need be I'm sure I could go find the ET's for Car and Driver and Motor Trend, although they don't matter much. Love the S55, heck of a car!

Nice info... but what is that 53 E55s vs 7 total S55s. That's a good comparison...lol Really... come on now...lol I think most of the S class drivers out there we busy enjoying the luxury of it all back when these test were done. Now we're on lowering links, mods etc. No amount of info dug up on the Internet is going to change the reality of it all... They aren't even rated the same hp from the builder. I learned a lot on this thread and appreciate everyone's input. My questions have been answered... I wont even rub in the fact that I have beaten several E55s with a couple of pretty girls comfortably relaxing in the back seat but that would just start a whole new list comparisons on the S55 vs the E55. Ooops #sorrynotsorry

This place is a joke.
First time I've ever heard of the S55 being faster, it does sound very interesting though. I drove a stock S55 with around 100k on it last year, and I do remember it feeling quicker than I expected, as compared to some stock E55s Ive driven...but I certainly couldn't say it was faster or not.

This place is a joke.
Motorweek on S55:

Its ample body stretches 203 inches and weighs in at 4,300 pounds. Sporty cues are discrete, adding even more presence to its tall roof line and long, sloping hood. The rear fascia boasts four polished stainless steel exhaust pipes below the signature AMG badging. Pretty? Sure. But this is a case of love at first drive. And the S55’s 5.4 liter, supercharged, single overhead cam V8 throws out an awesome 493 horsepower and 516 pound feet of torque. The S55 made serious tracks taking the 0 to 60 in 5.1 seconds and running the quarter mile in 13.5 seconds at 107 mph

But 4300lbs? Thats what my E55 weighs with driver and 1/2 tank of gas?

Motorweek on E55:

Not that the 2004 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG isn’t fast. In fact it’s the most powerful E- Class sedan that Mercedes has ever built! In the E55, AMG’s 5.4-liter Kompressor V8 engine roars out 469 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque And allows the E55 AMG to vault to 60 in , are you ready for this? , 4.4 seconds. The 1/4 mile rips by in only 12.7 seconds at 114 miles-per-hour. That’s just a hair slower than a Porsche 911 Turbo, and real pin-you-to-the-seat acceleration. But it’s also smooth as silk, with a turbine-like drive from idle to redline. A testament to the remarkable skills of AMG.

-No weight stated

Interesting though, they claim more HP on the S55 and SL55 but same torque?

I said it clearly earlier and this states it even better. No one is trying to knock your car. We are only saying what the facts are in write ups on both car. Every test couldn't be wrong! I always thought that the E55 was the fastest of the 8 cyl AMG cars from the factory...not the S.

...but whatever, if you beat all the E55's when you were stock too, then you have the fastest stock S55 in history.

No one is getting fired up but I will say that you need to learn a bit more before coming on here "not trying" to get people fired up. Back in 05' I believe when Evosport was one of the four tuners out there they dyno'ed a stock sl55 & a stock e55 and they dyno'ed within a couple of hp & torque of each other thus coming to the conclusion that they are the same engine. When I was just starting to drag my car back in 07/08 I went to the track with a s55 & a s65 and they were running 12.4-12.8 all day at 112-114 on stock 18" wheels while I was running low 12.0x's @ 117 on 19" wheels. This is not the gospel but this is my experience.. Btw these were w220 s class

Well, there you go... I'll go with that. It's a faster time than the E55 turned in the above mentioned Motorweek review.

We can just agree to disagree and let it go at that...

Same engine. As other stated earlier, it's marketing. Otherwise why same 516 torque ?

Your agenda is blatantly clear the trolling is just childish. If you think for a second that the S55 and E55 have different horsepower ratings, then you are one naïve person. It's all marketing to upsell people like you into purchasing the more expensive model.

I'm surprised why nobody knows this but the SL55 and the CLS55 have the bigger throttle body from factory 82 mm vs. the e55 size of 74mm which brings the hp to 493. E55 was the quickest because of the weight advantage . That’s why all E55 owners upgrade to that throttle body for more power.

the throttle body is an 80mm not an 82mm thats why all of them upgrade to the 82, 85, and now the 90mm for more power

Why would the CLS55 have a bigger throttle body than the e55 when the power outputs are the same? Maybe I should go measure mine

E55 the highest I found was 4.4 sec 0-60 and found as low as 12.4 sec 1/4 mile times! Most were around 12.8 but a far cry from 13.40's that the S claims!

Most E class and S class cars are stock so yours having a pulley and tune is adding what? 60rwhp or so...that's enough! Run a pulley and tune E55 and see how that goes. I don't know where you are located but there are a few of those examples here in NY that love to run all the time. I am sure that you can find a guy from this forum where ever you live. I am sure that we would all love to see the results...it's interesting and cool to see a pulley, tuned S class!
I'm not sure why you are mixing CL55 with S55 there's a big difference between these cars.
