replacing the johnson cm30 pump
I think mine is dead...I am thining about replacing it with the Bosch 0 392 022 010 (new bosch pump)
My main question is will this be a direct replacement? The stock pump had a vacumm line...does the new bosch have that line also? The johnson pump was installed before I got the car so I have no idea where the line would be.
Thanks !
JP

If your car was running fine before the pump went dead you should stick with the same pump, and it's more plug and play for you at this point. You will need the oem bracket if you go with the bosch pump.

thanks for all the replies! I am pretty sure the bracket is still there and the CM30 is bolted to it. I usually do my own work and have replaced a whole bunch of stuff in the last 4 years (a rear shock soon
) I just wasn't sure if the new bosch pump needed the vax line. the new bosch is about 75 bucks cheaper than the johnson! And I dont get to claim my daughter this year on taxes. Money is tight!!!!!!

my cooling system is also already split and I have the monster Eurocharged HE I installed a few years back. I havent noticed a power loss but I also cannot hear or feel the johnson running...I will pull it out and see if hooking a battery to it makes it run...maybe its just super quiet.

sweet. Ill test mine and see what happens. I don't think I need to bleed the system because I have the fill cap at the highest point in the system with no tank. I run it...open..fill...run it..open fill until its full. Anyone do this as well? How do you have the system separated?

Do you have the pump hooked up running constantly on ignition 1 or 2? This way you can hear it while the engine is off. I can hear my cm 30 from inside the car while the engine is off. And I have a spare cm 30 lying around too.

I didnt hook it up, so I need to get under there and see what's going on. I had a small leak I saw today and was under there for a quick fix in the cold weather. I will finish up the leak(antifreeze hose where it was split off) I put my hand on the CM30 and didn;t feel anything. AT ALL. so I am not sure if it is running. I'll check it all and report back. I think it is wired with the other smaller fan down there but Im not sure.

That trunk tank looks BEAST!
Can you build me one? I am looking into possibly getting a trunk tank as my final cooling measure. I'll pay for material, labor etc. obviously...looks great, man! Sorry for slight OT..

This place is a joke.
I've got a new (used for testing only) Varimax (Lingenfelter) pump for sale, $150 + shipping if you're interested. It's 3/4" in and out, brushless motor, comes with the wiring plug and bracket, and I'm sure it flows better than the Johnson. New its about $215.
