Audio system upgrades
I just had some audio upgrades installed. The stock HK system left much to be desired. I installed JL XD700/5 amp, an Audio Control LC8i and a JL 10w6 in a small box in the trunk. It sounds so much better now. The stock speakers really got woken up by the new amp. The shop had to cut out the woofer to make a port to the trunk. This was necessary because they said MB sealed the cabin well. There was a broken headrest clip, which would've needed to have been removed to take the rear panel off to pull the speaker out.
I may still swap out the AC LC8i for the JL Clean Sweep and Signal Summing Interface. It's more expensive and an additional component, but I was told that it will sound 20% better because the JL CS is a DSP and balances the channels automatically. Either way, I still love the way this thing sounds.

Did you replace the fiber lines?
I've looked up a few things and I have decided to start piecing together the parts I need to install the JL W0 10 inch sub and JL mono amp.

They left all of that intact. They said it would be easy for me to return to stock if I so chose. I assume you would need similar components to install a sub. For all of the work required, you may want to amp the other channels too. It's probably not much additional effort.

Those are the major components, the other small stuff is assumed, power block, wire, RCAs, etc. The mids, tweeters and head unit is stock.

I was poking around in the trunk today and I noticed that they cut out all of the speakers in the rear deck behind the headrests. There was far too much rattle from the rear shade mechanism with those woofers hooked up to the amp prior to the sub enclosure installation.

You beat me too it bro, this is exactly what I'm planning on doing, exact same amp! The only thing I'm doing differently is instead of a W6 box in the trunk, I'm having my shop create a custom fiberglass box to mouth underneath the rear deck. In the fiberglass box, we plan on installing JL's new shallow mount subwoofer so the bass fires right into the trunk. I'll be sure to share pictures when it's all done!
