Niche Circuit Wheels Cracking on 05 E55 AMG
I have had in the past 3 months, 5 Niche M108 rims crack. Two of these wheels were existing on the car..2 were replaced and cracked at different times. One wheel cracked within 5 miles.
Wheels are 20x8.5 and 20x10. I know they are weaker when wide and that the stress points are on the lip on the inside of the wheels. This seems to be where they are cracking. Always in same place and only realize it when crack expands and tire goes flat. Even MHT says that the wheel should be able to take a huge impact and not crack....NO BENDS at all....CRACKED.
I have had to replace all 4 tires due to this issue to....looses pressure and destroys tire on the inside.
I have owned MANY high end cars...with aftermarket wheels but these are turning out to be crap. I have had to get 3 of the wheels fixed and keeping as spares in my garage.
Spoke to MHT and they basically don't do anything...tell me it is probably something I am doing or hitting. All 4 wheels and 1 twice...one after 5 miles. That is BS....
They asked me to send them a wheel for them to review....I told them if they were concerned they would come and see it at the shop. The main MHT office is about 10miles away.
I love the look but because of the cost so far and the fact that Niche is discontinuing the wheels I may change out.
According to MHT they have never had this issue before.
Anyone experience anything like this?
Any suggestions other than the BBB or NTSB who I am filing a complaint with?

Sorry to hear that you are having problems like this. Definately cause for concern, especially if they are not standing behind their product. I just got a set of Niche Essen wheels so hopefully they hold up better than your M108's.

Have you watched just how the tire guys are putting the rubber on the rim, have seen numerous places where either the guy is just learning or bottom line does not have a clue and gets the tire jammed onto the rim because he was too stupid to hold the wide tire down below the bead on the opposite side when spinning the remainder of the tire onto the rim. This have seen first hand at a MB dealership where the guy was using a four foot bar trying to get the machine to spin the tire onto the rim, stretching the tire excessively over the bead. If done correctly a tire that is going onto a well lubricated rim can almost be done by hand.
