Congrats on the E55 If you do not plan on changing the gears in the diff just put a wavetrac in it. Both are M215 diffs but no point in trying to switch out the whole assembly. I did on my CLK55 with a custom rear cover and mounts but if you can just put an LSD in yours or swap out the gears. TCU tuning required when you do gears. One thing you will learn real fast is tuning is not your friend with these platforms. I'm about a year in on mine and still the tune is not fully optimized. Good luck on your build
Yes the Darton sleeves go out wider. I have a block at Darton right now ready for sleeves if you want to go down that path. I will most likely not be using it.

Out Of Control!!
i guess i would like to see pics of how they do them.. I would make the block a not floating cyl block if i was todo something for big power with one. I will most likely just do the wave track as i dont want to change gears really in it.. Btw what is the rear gear ratio in one of these??

Yea just do a wavetrac. I sold my E55 a while ago but I want to say 2.65 rear. They are long. My clk55 has 3.06

Good luck on your build, some of these guys have some real information that can be helpful to you, I'm not trying to be a fanboy towards Quaife or wavetrac but the Quaife just dropped in and I know they came out with an updated model that improves lubrication as well as some other things ....I thought that the Quave was three or $400 less but I'm not sure of anything... Good luck I just did the Quaife.... The thing is an animal....

I wanted to do 10.5CR but E85 is hard to find here plus like stated before the tuning on these cars isn't anywhere close to the other cars out there. The stock floating sleeves was my reason for wanting to do the Darton MID sleeves. I wanted as much strength as possible and without cutting and welding the block and spending way more time and money darron was my best option. I'll send you a PM

I seen that car for sale on ebay. I was not looking to spend much more than 22-25k on a car. If im going to spend 82k on a mercedes wagon that will be worth 35k or less in 4 years I would be spending another 25k and buying another wrecked ford GT supercar and building it over time or burn up some more of my parts collection Thats why the e55 was appealing to me, great price for what you get and someone else took the hit on it...

This place is a joke.
If you want to do a gear swap, find a used SL55 or SL63 (230 chassis) complete diff. The SL55 has 2.82 and SL63 has 3.06. Install a wavetrac or quaife. You'll need the TCU tune of course, as well as your engine ECU coded to the correct ratio (can be done with star developer) in order for your speedometer and ESP to work correctly. Stick with a factory ratio as the options in the engine ECU are limited to only factory ratios. I didn't pick up any, or very little, maybe .1 at the track with my 2.82 swap. However, on the street, with my larger SL tire sizes the car drives great around town.
