When you go to a bar or club after a long time away with few if any women around, do you bother to verify the gender of the woman you are interested in or just go all in and complain later the ride was rough and you spent the whole time *** up?

Mine is in good working order with some standard mods and a tune and I agree...meh. I know for a lot of people this is the fastest car they have ever owned and as such can understand how it would feel stupid fast but for me, not so much. It's a nice highway cruiser that can get out of its own way when it needs to. Throw in the post-depreciation pricetag and you end up with a lot of car for the money. All depends what your goals are.
E55<>racecar.

So if a woman looks like a woman, smells like a woman and acts like a woman you're saying I should sexually assault her to make sure she's a woman? Pretty sure you're what's wrong with society...
Or vice versa if a "woman" has an Adam's apple, manly hands and facial features then I should still check "under the hood" to make sure?!?!
Let me know how that works out for you in life, BOTTOMS UP!
And to Le55, thanks at least someone has common sense and knows what I'm trying to say, sure a stock E55 may be .5s faster in the 1/4 mile but it's definitely not faster off the line and if this E55 I test drove was faulty then it most definitely is slower then my Jeep.
But I'm done with this thread, I got the answers I was looking for and I'll try test driving some other ones in the future, to the rest of the retarded responses you make me not even want to own a E55

Then define stupid fast? These are 11 second cars with a few mods. Of course it's not a racecar--you don't have to have a race car to go 'stupid fast'.

Look troll, people are beating on you because your thread has no context, are you bashing the car or are you asking a question or are you thinking out loud?!! You obviously drove a poser AMG, you looked at the dash, the badges etc.....did you ever think to look under the hood to see if there was a monster with a blower on it? That's probably the first thing I and many would have done. The E55 in working condition is a beast even when stock. Mine has been stock ever since I bought it but never fails to blow me away when I unleash it. Let's be real here, a stock E55 has 500hp, it's a stock E55 to other cars, compared to what they would need to match it it's heavily modified. The point is what are you trying to achieve from this thread? That our cars are slow and we should go and die? Or are you asking if there was something wrong with that car and if so then yes there was. Unless you're coming from an AMS GT-R an E55 isn't gonna feel slow. For me I feel like the car is too much for the streets I drive in, as soon as I floor it I'm doing way way way beyond what is safe and I'm getting to a turn or curve in no time. This is the kind of car where you have visit the right street to unleash and when a car is that quick then you know it's considered fast. Good luck to you with the SRT, I've seen them turned into monsters, not just for size but monsters by any measures. I think however you're into that slammed into the backseat feel, go get a Vette or a heavily modded Evo, these cars will definitely FEEL faster. The E55 has a certain refinement that can be a little isolating, but again this doesn't change how fast it accelerates, just look outside

As someone who owns both vehicles, it sounds as though SPCJOHNSON is not shopping in the right market. He wants the throw you back in your seat from a stand-still that the Jeep can provide with it's AWD. However, the E55 is the one that will push you back in your seat on the highway. The Jeep? Not so much.

So heists you own both then you probably know more about what I'm talking about, I won't deny I guarantee a E55 will spank me on a highway or anything from a roll but when I launched it from a dig I just wasn't impressed.

You're pretty much not going to get that feeling with any RWD vehicle, save for some of the new expensive supercars with uber-traction control. Not sure why you were expecting that.

To be honest, 5 years ago before my E55 I had 04 E500. When I test drive my E55 I didn't felt too much different. It was my first test drive E55 and bought the same car. Changed the IC pump, voila ! the car is completely different animal.

Look buddy, go get a GT-R plain and simple. You want that neck snapping launch then the E55 isn't going to do it on the street with street tires. Get a GT-R, do some light mods and believe me it'll break your neck from a standstill.

Here's the vehicle in question for those who were questioning if I knew what I drove:
http://m.autotrader.com/cars-for-sale/vehicledetails.xhtml?listingId=371649408&numRecord s=15&firstRecord=1&zip=96786&searchType=both
My buddy took it for a test drive who also owns a SRT and got to take it on the highway, he said it was a monster and scared him a bit.
Maybe I jumped to conclusions too soon since I didn't get to take it on the highway, I might go back and ask for a better/longer test drive to be sure.
Not really interested in this particular E55 with that fugly hood but still open to one in the future.

lol that is a modded car - well to some extent.
You will stay unimpressed cuz I assume the IC pump has been replaced lol
Heiss is right- One cannot expect neck snapping launch in this car unless on
well prepared track with drag radials.
Anyhow, Good Luck with your search.

Has engine bay tank, 82mm tb, custom air intake, don't know about the crank pulley though or headers, since we can't see, but if they did the engine bay tank for cooling they must have more boost
Compression test and then go from there, if you buy it, contact every tuner and give them the vin and you will see who tuned it also

Thanks for the info, I'm curious to know as well what's all done to it. What else can I look for?
The salesman were clueless just "it go fast vroom vroom" like a kid.
Most likely tuned as well with those kinda mods? Should be over 500hp easily right?

Was going to tell you not to be afraid of a car with mods but after seeing how someone glued floor mats to that hood I'm not sure what to think! My first E55 was fully modded from about 30k miles on and never missed a beat until Renntech got greedy with a tune at 170k.

If you're not interested in that particular car then stop wasting your time and everyone elses. Go find another E55 and drive it. Go find a tuner shop or Benz mechanic and take the car to him so he can work out what has been done to it if anything.
This is so simple it hurts.
And to my earlier suggestion, yes, as you are a member of the military stationed in Hawaii and seeing as how many of you 'types' end up with Thai specials, go through with it on the pole anyway and then claim fraud, I'm suggesting you verify, unless of course that's the experience you were looking for. No judgement here. It doesn't require an assault of any kind but it does require a certain level of observation and common sense you seem to lack.

Jeez looks like this dude pissed in a lot of people's cereal with his observation. Calm down people, he isn't attacking your cars personally.
My first test drive in the E55 was a bit of a letdown. I kept asking myself if this was a near 500bhp car??? But I still bought it and got used to it. It is deceptively fast I will say and the fact that it has so much low end makes it not feel like its pulling much up top. A friend drove my car some time back and his description was exactly on point... "this car is very docile"

Right as this thread was finally getting back on track...
The logic of most members here is on point and constructive. Thank you for those who are actually here for the right reasons.
To the internet warriors who make unintelligible comments and hide behind some feeling of entitlement from forum seniority, you are a coward. That's all I'm going to say. Please comeback with more lame comments to further prove my point.
...Anyways
TL,DR: test drove my first E55, wasn't what I was used too but still a fan and would be interested in possibly replacing my DD with one.

Chances are this car will still be for sale come end of July and if it is, I will go check it out and verify everything OP apparently can not or will not.
