Best pulley size for daily driver E55

Hi Guys,

I drive my car regularly and want more power but want to keep the car reliable. I'm thinking of doing a pulley with a tune. What do you suggest size wise and how much hotter will the car run without cooling upgrades?

if you haven't done so yet, just replace your IC pump...$100 and 30 mins max to swap out and peace of mind for now...it will wake your car up if the pump isn't 100%.

The car only has 56K original miles on it so I think the I/C pump should be ok. I was considering the 172mm ASP pulley and dyno tune opposed to having it flashed. Thoughts?

I installed a smaller SC pulley combined with a 'tune' (transmitted to my computer, then connected to the OBDII receptacle for installation) about 3 weeks ago. I'm very pleased with the results, and the two guys who've ridden with me when I 'punched' it were AMAZED at the acceleration. Car has 49K miles on odo.

I liked the SC pulley, as that approach is easy to do, and does not increase the speed of the other belt driven components on the engine. Just increases the boost ~2PSI. I also installed the belt wrap kit, and no more 'chirp' when the SC is activated.

We suggest the blower pulley, belt wrap kit and B.I.P V2 Tune, and split cooling. We made 84rwhp/94rwtq, let us know how we can help brotha!

You are 100% wrong.

Mine was replaced at 32,050 miles... Get the Bosch "010" version installed before you waste $$$ on anything more expensive. When the IC pump fails it doesn't matter how big your crank pulley or H/E is.... you'll be getting walked by minivans.

Went to the track, cut a 12.97 @ 108. Changed the pump to the Bosch and went back.....12.07 @ 114. Both really blazing hot days.

Enough said, I'll change it with upgrades. How much power does your car make for the 12.07? Also, was that on drag radials?

No idea on power but all I have done is whats in my signature. No drag radials either, the car is really hard to launch, it took many runs to get it right. I managed a 1.8 60 foot on that run and everything just hooked great. What ended up working was : Put car in Dyno mode, Huge burnout, put car into raised, stalled up as high as I could, and when I left I didn't mash it right away. I just sort of eased into it at first then mashed it. I was lucky it didn't spin!

Trust me on this it is very important to do an Upgraded Clutch Pack and intercooler pump change (johnson cm30). After doing this you can get a tune but these two upgrades need to be done before you even think about a pulley.. I have only 40k miles on mine

Listen to Craig from BIP.

Do not do a crank pulley.

End discussion.
