I don't know if that's quite as easy as it sounds.

@stockC43 if you were to run a list for the E55 as per above what would it look like?

For those thinking offering me their cars, NZ is New Zealand We even drive on the wrong side of the road down here so importing is not an option either... thanks though.
I would say common 55 related issues, valve cover leaks, sc clutch bearing, thermostat, oil level sensor, tandem idler pulley, transmission electrical connector plug, trans conductor plate, leaking fuel sending unit ( part of fuel filter) under max effort engine builds cyl 8 can go lean if not done right, intercooling cooling system needs upgrading etc. the m113 is like the small block chevy of MB. Not to complex to work on, cheap and easy to fix, parts and engines are cheap and there bulletproof. The 722.6 trans is the same way. Yes the e63 is more advanced but that can come at a cost.

Almost forgot about sbc. E55's have sbc and can have issues on older or higher millage cars. Most of the bad units have been changed out by now but it's something to check on.

And the cost will ONLY decrease as time passes. The drive train is in almost EVERYTHING that mbz made. Hell look at how many '63' badged cars there are. Eventually here in the states junkyards will get their hands on these cars and prices will drop for parts.

Good point on the small block comparison.

2007 AMG E63 Weistec S3, 2003 Porsche GT2 with 1375 rwhp
E63 is the way to go. The E60 M5 is a better handling car, but for brute acceleration and for daily driving, the E63 is great. Modding an E63 is no worse than modding an E60, and I speak from experience on both. This weekend, a Weistec stage 3 is going on the AMG so I can report later on how that went.
