Hi guys, I need a little help on some car issues.

1) I got a 2004 e55 amg used at 28k miles at $26k clean out the door at a 3rd party dealer (non-mercedes benz). Clean title.

2) The dealer offered me extended warranty from a company called
Safe-guard LLC.

The warranty is
5 years/40k at $3600
5 years/70k at $4200
Deductible - $250

Can anyone please tell me if this is a reputable company? Has anyone used them? Would you recommend them? I haven't purchased the car yet. I'm actually going to go tomorrow and take the car to get a PPI at a benz dealer. If the benz dealer gives me the greenlight I will go ahead and purchase the vehicle but I'm confused on what to do with the warranty. Should I get a warranty from the benz dealer instead?

Also, any other tips, tricks, things I should look out for so that I don't get fooled?

Thanks guys.

You should check out the for sale forum for the E55 that are for sale. Might get a better deal in $$ than the one that you are looking at.

Did you check to see if the car is moded? Sounds like a nice car with low miles but they are asking full price.

Did you work them down to 26k OTD or was that their asking price? its not a terrible price but on the upper end. I would try to haggle with them to see if you can get it for a bit cheaper.

for warranty, i would just Google the companies name and see what people are saying about their warranties. If you decide to go with them I would definitely go with the 70k miles option.

Is this in the NJ area? I was looking around 3 months ago and came across the same exact specs. I ended up getting a 04 with 65k miles for 18k

It was 26800 base. With taxes it would be close to 28k. It has 28,750 miles. Clean history.

See if you can get them lower, if not it's not a terrible price and if the PPI checks out and it has a clean history just go for it man!

I would rather own a higher mileage E55 with ongoing service history, rather than a low mile car that has been sitting or driven a few miles every couple of months.
It is not the mileage that hurt these cars, but rather frugal owners who don't spend the money on proper service over time.

It's actually mileage.... And it won't really matter if it sat if he gets a extended warranty.
