IC pump question
I just bought a 2003 E55 and had a question about the IC pump. I have searched this site (maybe not good enough though) but didn't see anything that addressed this actual question.
How can you tell if your intercooler pump is actually bad or going bad? I see many post on what to replace it with but none on how to tell. Sorry if this is an old subject. This is my first time posting on any forum.
The car runs and drives perfect but I am not sure if it has all the power that it should as I have nothing to compare it too.
Thanks

You can tell when the car starts losing power after a few runs and it builds up heat. It should also continue to run when the car is off after the car has been running at full temp. I just replaced my old one and I can tell a world of difference. I could tell the car wasn't running right and I did find several posts on this subject. Definitely good to replace any way with at least the Bosch 010 IMO.

you can get a simple ELM327 bluetooth or WiFi reader and monitor your inlet temps (AIT) to see if they recover - general rule of thumb is 10-20 degrees above ambient temps when driving around town, you'll see spikes to 160-180 after some good hard runs but should come back down within a few minutes...
I got PLX Kiwi WiFi for my iPhone5 and use Dash Command App
lots of guys who want to monitor without blowing their budget get an inexpensive OBD2 reader and use Torque Pro ($4.95)
