Well, now the really important part of the story: how did you do at the blackjack tables?

So there's more.

The 5:50 flight is delayed getting to Raleigh because its coming from Florida, and as all my Florida brothers know its been like 40 days and 4 nights of rain here lately so flights and traffic times all get an asterisk this time of year. We drop into Philadelphia at a little before 7:30 and scurry to the rental car office which is of course, off site and takes 20 minutes to get to.

The rental clerk tells me that my reservation is not valid. Evidently the person on the phone that took the call confused Orlando with Philadelphia and reserved us a car in Orlando. No problem, they have a car there, a Nissan Sentra which I could gove a damn about what car I'm in at this point I just want out of there, but they're going to charge me almost $500 to borrow it until Saturday morning! Where I come from a s**tbox like that is $30/day so I'm trying to figure out exactly how this big rubber fist is getting shoved up my ***, and the manager apologizes for the mixup and drops the rate down to $110/day plus fees and whatevers. I probably should have just sucked it up and paid them but the thought of giving those jackasses any of my $$ made my right hand turn into a wrecking ball.

So I tell them no thank you, and we go back to the terminal and hop on the next shuttle for the "whatever" car rental.

The next place gives me a similar rubber fisting, the charges end up being $445 for Wednesday at 8:00 pm until Saturday morning at 11:00am ,but at least this is for a Mustang and not a Sentra and at this point I just want to verlassen so I say whatever lets do it.

Incidentally I see a Camaro next to the Mustang so I ask him to switch cars since they're the same thing pretty much, and he wants an extra $40/day to borrow the 6 cylinder Camaro vs.the 6 cylinder Mustang. I am trying to make sense of this with him, since they're the same piece of **** wanna-be muscle car, just with a different badge on the trunk pretty much and he is getting confused so I let it go in order to avoid any potential cognitive overload with this clown. The clown who then proceeds to tell me that he can't rent me the car because the card I'm giving him is a debit card and not a credit card. I've rented countless cars in the decade or so it's been since I got rid of my credit cards and so has my girl. Yet somehow Budget car rental can't make this happen.

Dammit.

I'm now shifted from "annoyed" mode to "this is nonsensical" mode which is a disaster aversion mode which transfers bad energy into funny energy because there's no point in getting pissed off, better to just laugh at bull****.

We walk next door to the next car rental place, Avis. The girl behind the counter was as sweet as you could imagine anybody to be and can't quite figure out what all the trouble was with the other places, she gets us a Chevy Cruz LTZ for $30/day, $48/day with all the fees and BS added on. Total until Saturday morning was $144.67 A-Z.

You've got to be kidding me.

I can't for the life of me figure out the discrepancy in fares from one place to the next, especially since they're only 50 meters apart, but I care not. We peeled out of there at 8:35 and made it to the Revel in Atlantic City at 9:30, three hours after the fights started but just after the main card (6 fights) started which turned out to be just fine for us.

And the Chevy Cruz LTZ is surprisingly not s**tty in any way at all. It was a great little turd to putt around in loaded up with leather, Nav, heated seats, and keyless-go!

This was Cowboy Cerrone's grandma. This lady was awesome, egging on the Jersey crowd who was 95% for Miller (a jersey boy). That's Frankie Edgar there, who was pretty blasted lol.

what a cluster** trying to get a car for a decent price and not getting bent over. Glad you were able to see the main but missed the undercards.

I would never use my debit card to use for purchases. Too easy nowadays to get your account wiped out via skimming and trying to get the bank to temporarily put your $$$ back into the account. Had an unpleasant experience in the past. I have one amex and one visa for purchases (online, rental, etc).

Ive been fine for ten years, but I definitely hear what youre saying about potential problems. Everything's fine until its not!
I dont keep much in checking acct for just that reason. I also have a specific bank acct I use for Paypal to limit potential damages. I hate PayPal with a passion and they aren't regulated like banks are so they are the judge and jury with any disputes.

1^6% worth it! If everything went as planned I wouldn't have that stupid story to tell, and what fun would that be ? Plus AC was a blast the rest of the week.

You are alive and well and were with the one you love.
So all is good.
The struggles in the beginning make the rest better.

Well you know what they say (or at least what I believe), it's not the destination, it's the journey and that actually sounds like an awesome memorable story It's more fun when things don't go according to plan and punctuality is overrated Anyways I hope you and your girl had a great time

Great story and positive attitude!!!

Now as for the motherf*&*ing airmatics, I actually like it....when its NOT broke. Just this morning, I go to the garage and see my left back is touching my tire and the red warning "Stop, car too low." Shop called and confirmed need new passenger rear airmatics. Urgh! I have now replaced all 4 of the motherf&%^ing airmatics!!!!
