I was a fan of Airmatic, not so much anymore

So today's my birthday and my lady treated me to some cageside seats for the UFC fight tonight in Atlantic City. We both love road trips so planned to cruise the E55 up the coast in one shot, then take some time making the way home throughout the rest of the week and the weekend.

My E I've had for going on three years and it's been super reliable and is such a nice car to drive I didn't hesitate for a second to plan a trip around it. I tossed a spare crank sensor in the glove box and we hit the road last night.

After making the way through the back roads of central Florida and getting on I95, the rest of the trip is almost doable on auto-pilot; nearly a thousand miles of all the same highway. Autopilot that is, until thirty minutes after getting situated and all the right tunes lines up does my front right air strut blow and the red "car too low" death message pop up on the DIC. So after a lopsided trip back home and a nights rest, this is what I've got:

Coilovers time. Everytime I go on a trip, the airmatic had always in the back of my mind. Well actually cps, spare tires, and airmatic.

I finally placed order for my coilovers. Should be here in 2-3 weeks.

Man that just sucks -

I did a three hour road trip a couple of weeks ago (b-day also) and the E had no problems.
It seems more and more people are going to the coilovers.

That is too bad, but you can get a replacement basically overnight.
Happy birthday anyway.

Holy crap, if you just got on 95 from Orlando, Arrnott is only a few miles away, that would be closest AirMatic failure to Arrnott ever

That's the thing I hate about these cars... there's no type of warning indication for a catastrophic failure that can leave you stranded. Similar thing happened to me, but not on a long road trip like that. It just sucks when you need to get from point A to point B sometimes and your car just randomly gives out on you.

Thanks fellas, as much as i love it I was gonna sell this E pretty soon anyways but I'm gonna coil over the CLS now 100%.

On a side note, we were able to get some last minute flight tix to Atlantic City (albeit $500 each dammit) so the party rolls on! Sitting here waiting to take off right now!

Rebuild Master Tech is another option. RF AMG struts were in short supply 2 months ago.

They rebuilt mine with 1 day turnaround. I was very happy with their work, only small complaint was they shipped it back with in-person signature required which was a hassle for me. But the strut looks and performs like a new fac

Yeah it drove surprisingly straight as well, considering the gangsta lean that was going on. The tire didn't rub at all, though there was as expected very limited turning radius.

Andrew, my # is the same, I just have a new phone that didn't get synched with the old contacts.

Thank you Brad

I was able to nurse my car home both times my front struts failed. No rubbing but was careful when turning.
