shifting issue

question to all of you

when driving does your car just really keep the RPM's up and not shift when it probably should move into the next gear?

was wondering if i do the "sneaky ecu" if that will reset the tranny - while it is revving high when manually hit the "+" button then it will shift, just feel it stays to long -

my eng and tcu are stock - no tune -

If I am driving grandpa style I feel it holds the gear to long ( think it is only 2nd gear or 3rd) don't recall.. But when I say it holds to long it might be only 3000rpm..so I often manually shift it like you pressing the + button. I have often wondered why it holds it when it should change sooner if not on the peddle to the metal.

Are you in S or C mode? s mode will hold the tranny in higher RPMa, waiting for you to hit the gas if needed..C mode should shift it sooner and lower the RPMs

Sorry forgot to say that.. Yeah if I am driving in grandpa mode it means in C.. So even then that's why I say I feel it holds that gear a little long for my liking.

What gears is it holding? On cold starts the trans holds 1-2 gears longer to get the temperature up. C mode does hold lower gears if you aren't driving fast enough.

Hmmm ...if I remember correctly, C starts the car in 2nd gear...I have never read though that C should hold the gears longer....

i only drive in "S" mode - as i think it wastes more gas starting in 2nd.

i think it is typically 2nd or 3rd gear - I'm glad i am not the only one -
