Pilot Super Sports blow away my Hankook V12s *quick review*

Just got some new Pilot Super Sports to replace my 7000 mile Hankook Evo V12s. I thought those tires were the sh*t. Boy was I wrong.

I drive on lots of super twisty roads daily. I am talking hairpins up and down mountain road. The tires dont compare. These tires are glued to the road. They just dont let go at all and I push this car HARD. Completely transformed my car.

I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they helped straight line performance as well. I have a Vbox and previously I could only get 4.6-4.8 0-60 runs (same spot on road) with my Hankooks. Very hard to not blow the tires off as I am sure many of you know. Oh and that was with 275 rears. Fast forward to now with my 265 Pilots SS and I ripped a 4.03, 4.10 and a 4.15 Didn't feel like I was on ice skates like it always has before.

Two sets of Hankooks trying to save a little dough and really regretting it now. I was able to get these tires for $1100 out the door installed. I really wish I knew what a difference these made a long time ago. Oh these tires also have an actual warranty too 30K, or 15K with staggered sizes since you cant rotate.

Yep, best tire ever made. 30% of the tires my store sells are PSS. And I can't tell you how many stories I've heard exactly like yours. My wagon had V12's on it when I got it and immediately put PSS on, and that was knowing I was going to put wheels on it like the next week, LOL.

Oh and regarding the warranty, it's 30k front, 15k rear, but there can be no more than 2/32" of varation of tread depth across the tire, which is nearly impossible to do on W211's. Just an FYI as it is consistently the longest-lasting summer tire made.

All I can say is "well, of course"

Put on a set of Hankook RS-3s then let's hear the review

Hankook V12 have been crap for me... can't hook for anything. I had Dunlop Direzza on before and they were definitely better. I'm going to try PSS next.

The new Hankook V12 Evo 2 tire is rolling out now. I just got a set of the Evo 2 on my front wheels and a set of the outgoing Evo 1 in the rear on my new 20" wheels. Prior to that, I had been running the PSS on my 18" wheels and I really liked them. The problem for me now is that two PSS tires in a 305/25-20 with mounting and balancing is almost $1k, which is what I paid for all four V12s.. I got 7k miles out of my last set of rear PSS tires on the 18"s. I went a full 15k miles on the fronts, but they were showing cords on the inner edge while the rest of the tread looked hardly worn at all.

I actually thought the Hankooks were very good overall in the handling dept. In fact they were very good. The PSS are just better. I just assumed I couldnt get a street tire to hook decently with the power I am making so I accepted the terrible spinning on launches. Hell nearly half the time I would spin too much and get a 5-5.5 0-60. BEST I could get was a 4.7-4.8 with those Hankooks. I have only done 3 runs with these new tires and every single one was below 4.2 ! Crazy difference. I imagine I could hit a sub 4 second with some practice.

I only paid about $150 more for the PSS over the Hankooks. Sounds like they really bump up the price on those 305s. How the heck did you fit those in your car ? I had 285s on my first set and they rubbed quite a bit.

This is exactly what I was looking for. My PSS's are about to go and was considering the new V12 but I think I'll fork out the extra 100 for the PSS's as I drive several hundred miles on curved mountain roads. I don't push the car through them but I'd rather have more grip in case of an emergency than to find myself in a spin doing 85.

Yea, I drive back and forth between the valley and Sedona at least 2 times a month, sometimes every weekend and the I-17 is pretty twisty. Plus it seems to be a magnet for terrible drivers, I'd say I come close to an accident once a month on that road because people don't know how to ****ing drive on a 2 lane highway....

I chose Conti Extreme Contact DW over PSS and I am very happy with those.

My shop owner did tell me that people go with PSS cuz they either haven't tried Conti or just want to go with well known brand.

I have V12s on all four corners and regret it. Even with the turbo lag from a dig I still spin. And when I'm under boost at 100+mph it will spin and slide sideways before it hooks up. My next set up will be the way I had my stage 3, with Invo's up front and NT05s out back. Or MTs out back.

I couldn't keep traction with the DWs on my wife's CLS550. I would never put them on an AMG.

Anybody have any experience comparing the PSS and the PS AS/3? I currently use the AS/3 since they are a little cheaper (and they came on my car so I've stuck with it,) and was wondering if the PSS is worth the jump in price?

The AS3 are not the same kind of tire at all from everything I read about them. Reviews of them are not very good while the regular PSS get amazing reviews. Isnt that their "extreme" all season ?

I have the DWS's on my c32 and they are a great tire, but I still can break them loose if I want, I would never put them on a E series Amg.

This... I have NT05's at all 4 and like them. BUUUT, still spin them at will... They only last about 4-5k, especially out back.. Can get 7-8k on the fronts.. Had PSS on my old 18's were not bad especially for the mileage rating.. Tough choices....

Mine is just DW not "S"

I have just a clutched pulley and they hook very nicely for my setup.

I hope we are all talking about launching in 2nd gear. 1st gear I've never used.

It spins a little and then I'm off.

They came highly recommended and have a higher rating than PSS . (rubber quality)

Lol I guess theoretical and practical doesn't always match
