"Stop, car too low": CODE 5508

Hi all

I am having the warning message "Stop, car too low" displayed in red color on my dashboard. This message popped up exactly the same moment I had a tyre blow out on the rear of my car.

I connected Star and it gave me the code "5508" followed by a message "The pressure line system leaks".

It seems that the front of my car is also very low and doesn't handle the bumps to well anymore, the rear seems to be ok.

May I ask with the code 5508 could it mean that my struts are ok and it really is only a leak in one of the air lines? Because I am surprised that 2 front struts could go at the same time.

I did an system pressure test with Star and whilst it seems the air compressor worked it could not reach anywhere near the required pressures for the air suspension to function properly.

Regards,

OZZYAMG

I have experienced the "Stop, car too low" message twice when first my right then a few weeks later my left front shocks developed leaks. Only one side was affected each time so I don't believe it is your shocks at fault although if one goes the other is likely to follow but not at the same time. It will be a line probably in-between.

you will need to check all the lines and if they are fine then maybe you have a blown shock

Tire rubber/road debris has damaged the line. Shardul can probably chime in but I would think some soapy water sprayed on the line would be a quick easy check if there is no obvious visual damage.

Hi

This is what I am thinking, tyre debris from my blow out has damaged the air line. But how could a blow out on the rear of my car damage an air line for the front suspension?

Did you hit something in the road that could have caused damage to the system at the same time it destroyed the rear tire?

Hi

Now that is interesting. I didn't feel anything but that doesn't mean I didn't hit anything. My guess is that I have run over something and is how all of this has happened.

I truly hope my air compressor and suspension is ok and it is just a line somewhere, should be dropping my car off at the mechanic tomorrow and see how it goes.

I'm getting the same warning message "Stop, car too low". It has only happen twice after 30 plus minutes of highway driving. After stopping and pushing the rise button, cooling compressor message displays.

Any suggestions?

You already diagnosed your car with star. The required pressure output from the compressor won't reach the spec because the compressor is faulty. The "pressure line leak" that the fault code is referring to is only the line from the compressor to the reservoir and reservoir to valve block which I've never seen leak. Replace the compressor and the relay.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
Hahaha I've sen this message more times than I could begin to count!!
It has to do with your Airmatic system - whether the struts, compressor, lines, etc...

If you need struts - check "Arnott Industries" in FL - best bang for your buck and a quality product, bar none!
