my e55 2003 is having a intermittent start ing problem. at the beginning, the problem is not so ignoring, i took 2 times to start at morning. after 2 weeks ago, problem get worse, i would need to take 5~6 times to strat the engine. it will crank, but just not start...after it get start, all is fine. power is strong...seems everything is all right. but everytimes, i left it around 15 minute. it wouldnt start again.
i changed 2 pump under the rear seats. and we have no codes. i also check all relay & fuse& connector & harness all in good condition. and problems is still.
we just found when the engine keep cranking, there have to voltage at the fuel pump harness. we dont know what make this situation...
finally i found a strange wiwiwiw sound under the hood when key in position 2. i dont if this relate to my starting problem.

Seems to be the crank position sensor. Not so uncommon for these to crap out.
The whining sound sounds normal with key in position #2. Activates voltage to turn on pumps, electronics etc before crank...

cps will have code, and stall in traffic?
but i dont have this symptoms..i have problem in cold start..
once engine is started, everthing is fine!
anyway, i ordered a new cps, i will try to change it..
