I believe the E55 forum has a particularly knowledgeable group of AMG owners with valid opinions. I'm in Australia where I don't even have the option to buy one but personally I really like the look of this latest Dodge and the performance is extraordinary - how do other feel about this dodgy vehicle breathing down our neck?

From the article: "The 0-60 times are close with the E63 edging out the Hellcat by .2 seconds"

seeing how cheap the challenger is i'm guessing this will be under the 65k price point making this car a dime a dozen on the streets. amg and m also have the exclusivity and the history behind them. This may be dodge's entrance into the super sedan world, but in my honest opinion, they have a lot to learn. No doubt the car is gonna be a monster, but not something i'd take over an e63S wagon

From an engineering standpoint, it's a great car.

Hell, they were talking about people being able to run them at WOT on the track for 20 min sessions without heat soaking!

Whether you like the car or not you have to admit The Hellcat has gotta be the coolest sounding car name since The Hammer came out in the eighties...

Do you think they had AMG clearly in their sights when bringing this car to market?

I'm not a fan of the looks of this generation Charger nor Chrysler's questionable-at-best build quality, however you just can't argue about the best bang for the buck value in terms of power. That SOB does sound insanely sweet for a car that's 100% stock though.

I don't foresee anyone really cross shopping between these cars (new for new anyway); after all one is a roided up blue collar sedan versus the other being upper management with a heart of pure evil.

I agree. One of the things I hate most is how almost all manufacturers have ceased giving cars real names and are just doing the "me too" alphabet soup labels. Zero personality anymore.

I agree with boostiality, I am not a fan of the new body style of the charger and I think that front end doesn't flow with the rest of the car. Having owned a 07 srt-8 it was a great car but it was HUGE, the new design makes it look even bigger. I had to sell the srt-8 after a couple months because 11mpg was just too much money for gas. With this being 700hp I'm wonder what the mpg will be in this 4500lbs boat...

NASCAR fans will love it!

They should do a Challenger version and call it "Vanishing Point".

Well, how about TWO OF THEM for the same price as an E63S Wagon?

Not bashing you at all (and not saying you believe this) but the "money is no object, I want the best" argument is just plain ridiculous.

Good choice. I've been seeing them creeping into the $60's now.
The CPO S models that have the preferable color/option choices are still in the $70's.
Wait until December though
Then BAG Man sell me your current wheels....LOL.

The fully modded/sorted Weistec car in the low $80's is the freaking steal of the millennium.
Come on LOTTO

Value is personal.

If I was spending $60K, I'll take a used E63 over a new Charger SRT.

Sure it will already have 30K miles or so, but which would resell for more?
A Dodge with 90K or a MB with 120K

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if a four year old hellcat with 90K on the clock wouldnt sell for more than a than a seven (or eight at 60K purchase) year old E63 with 120K.

Hope I am wrong!

I would bet high mileage hellcats will be cheap (and beat to crap).

The interior material is not really good in Dodge... how can people compare AMG and Dodge ? there is always faster car around but the speed is not only thing to consider when you buy a car.

The Hellcat's going to be awesome, but my disappointment lies in the transmission. Our E55s have a stock transmission that can handle more torque than the new Hellcat's. There won't be much play room for mods unless you put in a different tranny near immediately.

I think its cool that they had the ***** to build it but I wouldn't buy one personally. Not that I cold afford it anyway. I just wouldn't be happy driving a challenger with the Rubbermaid interior and seeing the cost cuts everywhere. I've been spoiled by the Germans and there attention to detail. If I wanted a domestic fast coupe, sedan or wagon it would be a cts-v. Better handling, better interior, $20-30k less in the used market and the option for a 3rd pedal in a sedan.

Me personally, used 63 BiTurbo. Hell, I'd still rather have a clean 10 year old E55
