Parking sensors going crazy after E63 bumper

Just had the conversion done to my e55. I ordered new brackets and had them fit them in nice and flush. For some reason this thing goes crazy as if there's things randomly in front of the car when there really isn't.... Does anyone have a clue what it could be or if it can be straightened out? I have DAS if that helps in any way to recalibrate it if possible.

Did you paint the sensors when the bumper was painted?

Yes only because they seemed to be painted before in silver... I did tell them to make sure you take the old paint and put new paint on them.

Too much paint can be a problem.

MB instructions say to use very light coats on the sensors.

I bet the idiots working there just painted right over it.... Any suggestions on how to fix it without taking the bumper off?

They seem pretty flush...Is it possible to get the paint off the sensors without taking them out?

Mercedes
my sensors keep popping out. The brackets with double sided tape on them do not hold them in very well. I am going to take bumper off (for the third time...) and try gluing them in with epoxy.

The body shop said they just painted over the four sensors that had originallyhad ssilver paint on them (my care is blue)... Going to take it in this weekend for them to removed the paint and brush a thin coat over it.

HOW CAN YOU PAINT SENSORS!! My sensors go crazy when there's even a little dirt on them. I have to wipe them down with isopropyl alcohol wipes to get them to shut up.

By the way when you did the conversion, did you have to change the support behind it or did you just install the bumper itself without the need for additional parts?

Also are the sensors the same or are they different and smaller?

You may have a thick coat of paint on yours because the sensors are black from the factory so they have to be painted.

I reused the same sensors from my E55 bumper and they fit on the E63 bumper, but you do have to modify them to fit.

What are you talking about, who are you even talking to? My sensors are NOT painted, I understand that on a white car for example they need to match the color but these things go crazy even when they get dirty. I said mine go crazy if they get a little dirty, I get 4 red lights and a beep in the sensor panel. As soon as I clean them with alcohol wipes they never give me trouble for a long time unless I don't wash the car or wash it and hard water leaves water spots on the sensors. I usually use a leaf blower to dry the car after washing though.

All parktronic sensors are painted from factory. if your sensors are not painted they were probably replaced and never painted. if your parktronic is being triggered that easily, you have an issue.

and to answer OP's concern, yes, that much paint on the sensors will cause trouble.
